Requirements and Target Audience
The distance learning programme Philosophy and Economics (M.A.) is aimed at working professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of economic, social and political interrelations in a targeted manner. The target group in particular consists of graduates of economics-related bachelor's degree programmes who want to take on responsibility for change and innovation projects in companies, organisations or NGOs. People from politics, administration, media or the education sector who want to integrate interdisciplinary ways of thinking and analytical depth into their work will also find a suitable academic further education here.
Which formal admission requirements do you have to meet?
The following requirements are demanded for admission to the master's programme:
- A completed first degree (bachelor's, diploma or magister) with at least 180 ECTS credits, preferably with demonstrable economic or social science components
- Alternatively, admission with a university entrance qualification, completed vocational training, at least 2 years of relevant professional experience and a passed aptitude test (e.g. term paper, letter of motivation)
- Where necessary, proof of specific prior knowledge or professional experience in the field of economics, social sciences or related disciplines
- There is no numerus clausus (NC) and no compulsory school-leaving certificate (Abitur); admission is also possible for professionally qualified applicants

Experience in academic work, openness to systemic thinking and the ability to conduct independent research will facilitate your success in the programme. For online study, you need time management skills, self-motivation and willingness to actively discuss abstract content.
