Requirements and Target Audience
The Master's programme in Management in Artificial Intelligence is aimed at professionals and graduates with an academic background in business administration, information technology or related fields who aspire to leadership roles in the areas of digitalisation and artificial intelligence. It specifically addresses individuals who drive change and innovation processes in companies, consultancies or start-ups and wish to specialise in the design, implementation or management of AI technologies. The course is also suitable for specialists wishing to further qualify for strategic roles at the interface between management and technology – for example as digital strategists, project managers, product managers or consultants.
What formal admission requirements must you meet?
The following regulations apply to admission to the Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence at Hochschule Fresenius:
- University degree (Bachelor, Diploma, Magister) in a relevant subject area with at least 180 ECTS credits
- Proof of at least 25 ECTS credits in business-related subjects (e.g. business administration, accounting, economics, marketing, strategic management) or in (information) technology subjects (e.g. information technology, operating systems, databases, IT security)
- If the first degree comprises fewer than 240 ECTS credits:
• With 210 ECTS: at least 1.5 years of subject-specific professional experience
• With 180 ECTS: at least 2 years of subject-specific professional experience - Alternatively: Admission may be possible on a case-by-case basis with university entrance qualification, completed vocational training, at least 2 years of relevant professional experience and successful aptitude test
- Where applicable, additional proof of English skills at a minimum B2 level
- A letter of motivation can be requested as part of the application process
The rules of Hochschule Fresenius apply for the recognition of professional qualifications and possible credit transfer. Individual opportunities for supplementary qualification are offered in the case of differing prior education.
You should have an interest in economic, technical and societal issues in the context of artificial intelligence. Analytical thinking skills, strong problem-solving abilities and the willingness to learn new digital tools and methods are advantageous. Independent work in the online course, good time management and the ability to work reflectively in a team are essential for academic success. Prior knowledge in programming or data science is helpful but not a mandatory requirement.
Study Content in Detail
The Master's programme in Management in Artificial Intelligence at Hochschule Fresenius provides you with fundamental and advanced knowledge for the application and control of artificial intelligence (AI) in the digital corporate environment. Key study contents include methods and applications of AI, machine learning, deep learning, as well as the basic structure of artificial neural networks. You analyse network architectures and learning procedures, and get to know important application areas such as image and speech recognition, autonomous systems, and automatic data generation.
Additionally, you deal with digital transformation, change management, and digital leadership, enabling you to actively shape changes in companies using AI tools. You acquire solid foundations in economics and information technology, supplemented by the development of scientific working methods in the context of AI.
In the elective compulsory area, you choose one of three specialisations to align your studies with your career goals:
- Classical and agile project management
- Digital business modelling
- Design thinking
In the final module, you prepare a practice-oriented master’s thesis in which you pragmatically address a current topic in AI.
How does the distance learning course work?
The Management in Artificial Intelligence programme is organised as a flexible distance learning course. You can choose between a study duration of 2 semesters (full-time) and up to 4 semesters (part-time). The study contents are available to you around the clock via a digital learning platform, allowing you to study independently and flexibly in terms of time. Exams are offered online and can also be taken flexibly. Support is provided by personal study coaches and experienced lecturers who assist you online. You can start your studies on the 1st of any month.
Additional international experience is gained through free digital certificates and masterclasses offered by the cooperation partner Arizona State University (ASU), which are part of the study concept. The programme concludes with the master’s thesis.

As a graduate of the MMAI, career opportunities open up in the digital transformation of companies. You can evaluate, implement, and integrate AI solutions in the management context into corporate strategy. Typical areas of application include:
- Strategic planning and digitalisation of business processes
- Change management and leadership of digitalisation projects
- Development, evaluation, and marketing of AI-based products
- Corporate and organisational consulting with a focus on AI innovations
- Project management in IT or digitalisation departments
The degree also qualifies you for senior roles in data science, business intelligence, and for independent consultancy. With the acquired scientific foundation, a doctorate is also possible.
Place of study: Where do you learn?
The programme is conducted entirely online. You do not need to be physically present at any of the Hochschule Fresenius locations. All organisation, teaching, support, and examinations are handled via digital platforms. International contacts arise through the digital offerings of the partner Arizona State University.
As an enrolled student, you are networked via Hochschule Fresenius and have access to digital libraries and learning resources. For questions and support, digital study advisory and support services are available.
Costs and financing options at a glance
The tuition fees for the Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence amount to a total of 8,340 Euro (for a duration of 12 months, which corresponds to 695 Euro per month). Payment models may vary depending on the chosen study duration: For a duration of 18 months, the tuition fee is 9,810 Euro, for 24 months 10,920 Euro. The fees include all learning materials, examination fees, use of the online library, and all digital services.
Various funding options are available: You can apply for the KfW study loan to finance your distance learning or apply for scholarships such as the Deutschlandstipendium. Funding via the Aufstiegs-BAföG or support from your employer is also possible. Hochschule Fresenius regularly offers discount promotions as well as personal advice on financing solutions.
