Who is the Distance Learning Psychology Course at HS Fresenius Suitable For?

The distance learning Psychology degree (B.Sc.) is aimed at individuals who want to acquire a scientifically based understanding of human experience and behaviour – regardless of whether they already have a (subject-specific) higher education entrance qualification or bring professional qualifications and experience. What Formal Admission Requirements Apply?

You can start the course if you meet one of the following requirements:

• General university entrance qualification (Abitur): Entitles you to study at all German universities and in all federal states.
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachabitur) or subject-specific university entrance qualification: Entitles you to study depending on the federal state or field of study.
• Master craftsman’s certificate or advanced training qualification (at least 400 hours): For example, specialist business administrator, technician, state-certified business economist. Additionally, a subject-specific university entrance examination is required.
• Completed at least two-year vocational training plus at least two years of full-time employment in a related professional field: Additionally, you must pass a subject-specific university entrance examination.
• Intermediate school-leaving certificate and at least three years of vocational training (final grade 2.5 or better): You can start with a study agreement – provided you achieve at least 30 ECTS credits in the first year of study or at least 18 ECTS in the first semester. If the final grade is below 2.5, passing the subject-specific university entrance examination is additionally required.
• Career changer entry with professional qualification and aptitude test: Possible with at least two years of vocational training, three years of professional experience in a related field, and a consultation interview at the university.

No Numerus Clausus (NC) is required and course start is possible monthly.

You should bring analytical thinking skills and an interest in academic work, as empirical methods and statistics make up an important part of the course. Self-motivation, time management, and the ability to learn independently online are crucial. Prior experience with digital learning platforms, openness to different perspectives, and willingness to critically question complex contexts are helpful. Study Content in Detail

In the Bachelor's degree programme in Psychology (B.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius, you acquire extensive knowledge of the scientific foundations and application areas of psychology. The curriculum is divided into three main areas:

• Foundations of Psychology: Introduction to psychology, empirical-scientific working methods, and statistics form the methodological foundation. You deal with central theories and concepts from General Psychology, Biological Psychology, Differential and Personality Psychology, Developmental Psychology, as well as Social Psychology.
• Psychological Diagnostics: You learn the basics of diagnostics as well as various diagnostic methods and how to apply them in practice.
• Application Subjects: The modules Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, and Work and Organisational Psychology teach you how psychological knowledge can be used in different professional and societal contexts.
