The Bachelor's distance learning programme in Human Resource Management at Hochschule Fresenius is aimed at individuals seeking a career in human resource management, personnel development, or recruiting. The course is suitable for working professionals and career changers who wish to specifically expand their knowledge in the areas of personnel economics, labour law, or change management. People with professional experience in the commercial, administrative, or social sectors as well as (prospective) managers in the personnel field also benefit from the skills taught in digitalisation, leadership, and personnel psychology.
What admission requirements do you have to meet?
Admission to the distance learning programme Human Resource Management, B.A., is possible via several routes:
- With university entrance qualification (Abitur): General university entrance qualification (Abitur) entitles you to direct enrolment.
- With vocational college entrance qualification: Vocational college entrance qualification or subject-specific university entrance qualification entitle you to study according to the respective field of study.
- With vocational training: A completed, recognised vocational training of at least 2 years plus at least 2 years of full-time employment in a related field. In addition, a subject-specific university entrance examination is required.
- With advanced vocational training: Master craftsman certificate or a comparable advanced vocational training with at least 400 hours of instruction (for example, specialist business administrator or technician). Here, too, a subject-specific university entrance examination is necessary.
- With intermediate school leaving certificate and 3-year vocational training: A final grade of 2.5 or better entitles you to the study agreement; if the grade is lower, the subject-specific university entrance examination must additionally be taken. Furthermore, at least 18 ECTS in the 1st semester or 30 ECTS in the 1st academic year must be completed.
Prior achievements from other courses of study or recognised qualifications can be credited on application if they correspond in content and scope to the study modules.
You should have an interest in economic contexts, communication skills, and an affinity for working with people. Self-motivation and structured time management are particularly important for distance learning, as you study independently of location and time. Experience with digital media and basic knowledge of mathematics or statistics are helpful but not mandatory. Openness to change processes, empathy, teamwork skills, and analytical thinking support your study success and later work in human resource management.

Course Structure: How Does the Distance Learning Degree in Human Resource Management Work?
The distance learning programme is designed to be flexible and can be completed in six to twelve semesters, depending on individual time management and life situation. The standard study plan envisages six semesters with a total of 180 ECTS credits.
- Start of studies at any time: You can begin monthly on the 1st of each month.
- 100% online study: All learning materials, lectures, exercises and exams are available digitally.
- Self-directed learning: You set your own time and place of study. The learning platform, online modules and digital study materials make organisation easier for you.
- Examinations: Many exams can be taken flexibly online; some on-site exams at examination centres are also possible.
- Practice-oriented modules: Projects and case studies are integrated into everyday learning to establish a direct practical connection.
- Individual specialisation: You can choose three out of five elective modules according to your interests.

Costs and Financing
