Admission Requirements

In order to enroll in a university degree program at Hochschule Fresenius, applicants must demonstrate the necessary qualification for university studies (university entrance qualification). This is demonstrated by:
- the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the respective subject area and in the federal states specified in the certificate,
- or the university of applied sciences entrance qualification, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a tiered degree program at a university in the federal states specified in the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without Abitur or a university of applied sciences entrance qualification. For admission without Abitur, the following is required:
- You have passed the master's examination.
- Or you have a qualification in accordance with the Regulation on access to higher education for professionally qualified persons in the federal state of Hesse, either a qualification from a professional advanced training course of at least 400 hours, completion of a technical school or a vocational or administrative academy, or passing an examination in a state-recognized training occupation with subsequent at least three-year professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalency must be demonstrated for admission.
In order to be admitted to the Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science (B.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius, your English language skills must correspond to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Course Contents and Specializations
The Bachelor's programme in Computer Science at Hochschule Fresenius provides a solid understanding of computer science to solve real problems through specific systems and a systematic, engineering approach. You will learn the phases of analysis, specification, modelling, and implementation of complex computer systems as well as development processes. Additionally, you will gain technological expertise in modern operating systems, computer architecture, and networks and be able to develop projects and IT-supported processes within a company accordingly.
The following modules are planned in the course curriculum:
- 1st Semester: Introduction to Computer Science, Introduction to Programming Languages (Java), Mathematics and Statistics I, Databases and Information Systems, Academic Writing: Self and Time Management; Presentation Techniques, Career Prep I: German Language or Business Communication in English
- 2nd Semester: Advanced Programming, Mathematics and Statistics II, Cloud Computing, Algorithms and Data Structures, Software Engineering, Digital Project Management and Practical Project
- 3rd Semester: Automata, Computability, and Complexity, IT Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Data Analytics, Operating Systems and Computer Architectures, Automation and Digitalization in the Industry
- 4th Semester: Computer Networks, UX & Web Technology, Specialization I
- 5th Semester: Distributed Systems, Information Security and Data Protection, Specialization II
- 6th Semester: Legal and Ethical Aspects of Computer Science, Digital Transformation and Change Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, Career Prep II: Strategic Networking and Personal Branding, Bachelor's Thesis
In the 4th and 5th semesters, you have the opportunity to deepen your studies in two specializations of your choice to acquire further knowledge in your personal areas of interest. You can choose from Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Software Engineering, and Industry 4.0.
The degree programme not only offers theoretical knowledge but is also practical-oriented. Practical experiences are conveyed through interactive learning, excursions, and workshops. If desired, you can integrate an internship semester into your study programme. Opting for an internship semester will extend the standard study period to 7 semesters, and you will earn a total of 210 ECTS credits.
