The programme is particularly suitable if you want to study flexibly and independently of location, and aspire to professions such as nutritional counsellor, nutrition expert in institutions, specialist in research and quality management, or independent nutrition and health coach later on.
Admission requirements: What formal requirements must you meet?
To enroll in the Bachelor's programme in Nutritional Sciences at Hochschule Fresenius, you need university entrance qualification. This is fulfilled with:
- General university entrance qualification (A-levels)
- University of Applied Sciences entrance qualification (college entrance qualification) or subject-related university entrance qualification
- Master craftsman's examination or an advanced training course (at least 400 hours of instruction, e.g. technician, business administrator, industrial business manager)
- Completed, at least 2-year vocational training with subsequent, professionally relevant at least 2-year work experience and successful subject-specific university entrance exam
- Alternatively, with a secondary school leaving certificate and completion of at least a 3-year vocational training with a final grade of 2.5 or better: participation in the first semester as a trial course; with a lower grade, an additional subject-specific entrance exam
A Numerus Clausus (NC) is not required. Your application without traditional university degrees is possible with relevant work experience and aptitude test.
You should have an interest in scientific and medical connections, as modules such as biochemistry, anatomy, food chemistry, and statistics are part of the core content. Self-responsibility and good time management are necessary because distance learning requires self-directed learning. For future work in counselling and prevention, communicative skills, empathy, and openness to digital media and online communication are particularly important. Practical experiences in the healthcare or food industry are advantageous but not a requirement.

The entire study organization – from enrollment to completion – runs through the digital infrastructure of Hochschule Fresenius. How much does the distance learning programme in Nutritional Sciences cost and how can you finance it?
For the study of Nutritional Sciences at Hochschule Fresenius, you can choose from various cost models based on the duration of studies:
- 72 months: from €235.00 per month
- 48 months: from €325.00 per month
- 36 months: from €375.00 per month
The total costs for the study, depending on the model, range from approximately €13,500 to €16,920. The fees include all study materials, online support, examination achievements, access to the learning platform and online library. Additional costs only arise for individual interests, e.g. for voluntary in-person events or personal expenses for books.
