Who is the Master’s in Biomedicine suitable for?

The English-language Master’s programme in Biomedicine (M.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius is aimed at graduates of scientific degree programmes who wish to deepen their knowledge in the field of molecular medicine and work in biomedical research, development or regulatory fields. The programme is particularly targeted at bachelor graduates in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy or related disciplines who see their career prospects in international research environments, the pharmaceutical industry or in the area of clinical trials.

What admission requirements apply?

For the version with 120 Credit Points, you must meet the following requirements:

  • A first professional degree (bachelor or equivalent) comprising at least 180 ECTS in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy or a related subject
  • English language skills at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

For the version with 60 Credit Points, the following applies:

  • A first professional degree comprising at least 240 ECTS in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy or a related subject
  • English language skills at level B2 (CEFR)

You should have a structured and analytical way of thinking as well as a strong interest in biomedical research. Laboratory experience, basic knowledge of statistics and molecular biological methods are helpful. Openness to interdisciplinary work, accuracy, the ability to work in a team and the willingness to understand and discuss English-language specialist literature are important for success in your studies.

After completing the programme, you will be able to analyse complex biological and clinical questions, apply scientific methods and develop research projects in the biomedical field.

How does the Master’s degree programme Biomedicine proceed?

The programme is organised as a four-semester full-time on-campus course (120 ECTS) at the Idstein campus. The lectures are held in English. You will experience a combination of theoretical lectures, seminars as well as practical laboratory exercises in modern laboratory facilities.

A key component are regular laboratory phases where you apply diagnostic, analytical and experimental methods. The study course comprises sequential modules from molecular and cellular biosciences, deepened by translationally oriented research projects and scientific communication.

In the final semester, you will focus on your Master’s thesis, which is carried out independently and usually with a practical focus under the supervision of a professor. The programme starts each winter and summer semesters.
