Requirements and Target Group

The distance learning programme “Education, Management and Leadership (M.A.)” is aimed at professionals who take on responsibility in the education sector or already hold managerial positions and wish to systematically expand their management knowledge. It is particularly intended for educational specialists and managers, employees in educational institutions, training providers, human resources departments or (adult) education who are seeking a more business- and organisation-related approach to leadership and management tasks in the education sector. The programme is also suitable for individuals who want to advance change processes, quality assurance or the digitalisation of educational offerings within their organisation.

Which Admission Criteria Do You Need to Consider?

The following formal admission requirements apply for the Master’s programme “Education, Management and Leadership (M.A.)” at Hochschule Fresenius:

• Completed higher education degree (e.g. Bachelor, Diplom, Magister) with at least 180 ECTS credits
• Usually a subject-related prior degree (e.g. Education, Social Sciences, Educational Sciences, Human Resource Management or related disciplines)
• Alternatively: Admission possible as a professionally qualified applicant, with a completed vocational training of at least two years in a field relevant to the programme, at least three years of relevant professional experience, as well as successful passing of an aptitude test and a motivation letter
• Technical college qualifications and professional advanced training may be recognised on a case-by-case basis
• No numerus clausus (NC) is required

If needed, the university may require additional proof (e.g. credit points in specific subject areas) or an admission interview.

For successful studies, you should have an interest in educational issues and education management. Important personal prerequisites are self-organisation, time management and the ability to learn independently in a digital environment. Leadership skills, communication skills, openness to change processes as well as an affinity for digital technologies and media are helpful. Initial practical experience in the education sector, in continuing education, personnel development or managerial functions is advantageous but not mandatory.
