Who can start the BWL Bachelor's degree at Hochschule Fresenius?
For admission to the distance learning course in Business Administration, you need one of the following qualifications or certificates:
- General university entrance qualification (Abitur): Entitles you to start the course directly.
- Advanced technical college entrance qualification or subject-specific university entrance qualification: Direct access depending on the federal state and subject area.
- Professionally qualified without Abitur:
- At least a 2-year completed vocational training and at least 2 years of full-time employment in a related field. Additionally: Passing a subject-specific university entrance examination.
- Master craftsman’s certificate or advanced training (e.g. specialist, business administrator, technician) with at least 400 hours. Additionally: Passing a subject-specific university entrance examination.
- Intermediate school leaving certificate with completed vocational training of at least 3 years with a final grade of 2.5 or better (chamber or state examination certificate). If the final grade is lower: additional subject-specific university entrance examination and certain ECTS credits in the first year of study are required.
All applicants without a classical university entrance qualification undergo a counselling interview with the university before enrolment. Start of studies is flexible and possible at the beginning of any month.
For the Business Administration course, you should have a basic interest in economic processes, numeracy, and analytical thinking. Independent and self-organised learning is particularly important in distance learning. Communication skills, teamwork, and openness to digital tools will support you in your studies. Prior experience from commercial training or work practice, especially in accounting, controlling or sales, is helpful but not a prerequisite. Course Progression: How the BBA Distance Learning Works
The degree programme is designed exclusively as distance learning and comprises 180 ECTS credits. The standard period of study is 6 semesters, flexibly selectable between 36, 48 or 72 months.
- Course start is possible at any time on the 1st of each month.
- You learn with digital learning materials such as scripts, videos and modern online platforms.
- Self-study phases are accompanied by individual support from study coaches and lecturers.
- Examinations take place flexibly online – written exams, term papers, online presentations and oral presentations are possible.
- Additionally, the curriculum includes three two-day attendance seminars that enable practical work and exchange.
- Thanks to cooperation with Arizona State University (ASU), international certificates and masterclasses can be completed within the distance learning programme.
To support you, the university offers a comprehensive digital campus including virtual study groups and direct communication with fellow students. You can design your study plan individually according to your personal interests and career goals, in particular through elective modules.

Costs and Financing Options: What Does the BBA Distance Learning Cost?
The distance learning programme in Business Administration at Hochschule Fresenius costs a total of 15,059 euros for a study duration of 72 months (209 euros per month). Various fee models are available – for the standard study duration of 36 or 48 months, the monthly fees increase. With a current discount code, a reduction of fees may be possible.
- Included in the total price: all learning materials, e-books, access to the online library, examination fees, individual support and ASU certificates.
