The Bachelor's distance learning course in Business Administration at Hochschule Fresenius is aimed at career starters as well as professionals interested in business contexts who want to advance their careers in management, controlling, marketing or company-related areas. It particularly addresses individuals who wish to study alongside their job, during parental leave or flexibly online. Who can start the BBA at Hochschule Fresenius?
For admission to the distance learning course in Business Administration, you need one of the following degrees or certificates:
- General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur): Entitles you to start the course directly.
- Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or advanced technical college entrance qualification: Direct access depending on federal state and subject area.
- Professionally qualified without Abitur:
- At least 2 years of completed vocational training and at least 2 years of full-time employment in a related field. Additionally: passing a subject-specific university entrance examination.
- Master craftsman’s diploma or advanced vocational training (e.g. business administrator, technician) with at least 400 hours. Additionally: passing a subject-specific university entrance examination.
- Intermediate school leaving certificate with completed vocational training of at least 3 years with a final grade of 2.5 or better (chamber or state examination certificate). For lower grades: additional subject-specific university entrance examination as well as certain ECTS credits in the first year of study required.
All applicants without a traditional university entrance qualification undergo a consultation interview with the university before enrolment. The start of studies is flexible and possible at the beginning of any month.
For the Business Administration course, you should have a basic interest in economic processes, numerical understanding and analytical thinking. Independent and self-organised learning is particularly important in distance learning. Communication skills, teamwork and openness to digital tools will support you in your studies. Prior experience from commercial training or professional practice, especially in accounting, controlling or sales, is helpful but not mandatory. The willingness to engage with mathematical and legal issues supports your success in the course.

In the Bachelor’s degree programme in Business Administration (B.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius, you receive a broad education in economics. The central study contents include:

- Mathematics as well as descriptive and inductive statistics
- Legal frameworks: Civil law, commercial, company and labour law

You learn to analyse economic structures and processes, understand relevant legal and financial aspects, and apply management methods in a practice-related way. In the elective modules area, you can focus on marketing management, holistic value creation systems or controlling and international management. The degree is complemented by practice-oriented projects that teach methodological skills in management consulting and start-up processes.
Course Structure: How the Distance Learning BBA Works
The degree programme is designed as a pure distance learning course and comprises 180 ECTS credits. The standard period of study is 6 semesters, flexibly selectable between 36, 48 or 72 months.
- Start of study is possible at any time on the 1st of each month.
- You learn with digital learning materials such as scripts, videos and modern online platforms.
- Self-study phases are supported by individual supervision from study coaches and lecturers.
- Examinations take place flexibly online – written exams, term papers, online presentations and oral presentations are possible.
- Additionally, the curriculum includes three two-day face-to-face seminars, which enable practical work and exchange.
To support you, the university offers a comprehensive digital campus including virtual study groups and direct communication with fellow students. You can design your study plan individually according to your personal interests and career goals, especially through elective modules.

The distance learning course takes place completely online. You access all study contents, learning materials and examinations via the digital campus of Hochschule Fresenius. Participation in the three two-day face-to-face seminars is mandatory – these are offered at selected university locations. Your studies are thus location-independent and 100% flexibly organised.
At the same time, you benefit from the experience and networks of one of Germany’s largest private universities with locations including Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Idstein, Cologne, Munich and Wiesbaden.
Costs and Financing
The distance learning degree in Business Administration at Hochschule Fresenius costs from 259 euros per month. The university offers various time models from which you can choose flexibly – the shorter the duration, the higher the monthly rates; the longer the duration, the lower they are accordingly.
The study fee includes:
