For admission to this degree programme, a successfully completed undergraduate degree (with a grade of 2.5 or better) with at least 180 ECTS credits, including at least 110 ECTS credits in business administration, or a comparable academic qualification, such as a diploma, is required.
If the required grade is not achieved in the undergraduate degree, a separate entrance test must be taken. This regulation applies to both internal and external applicants. If the undergraduate degree has a weaker focus on business studies, specific subject exams must be taken, the selection of which is determined by the admissions committee on a case-by-case basis.
For applicants with a different mother tongue than German: German language skills must be at least at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or at an equivalent level.
Course Content and Specialisations
The Master's programme in Business Administration aims to teach students, building on a successfully completed basic economic degree, scientific and critical thinking skills with interdisciplinary references. Through the Master's programme, students are qualified for leadership roles, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. This involves imparting competencies in the operational and strategic management of small and medium-sized enterprises, the management of individual company areas, as well as the importance of economic policy developments.
In this context, it is intended to deepen, complement, and further develop the knowledge and skills acquired in a basic economic degree. Accordingly, the degree programme is focused on imparting the competencies and skills required for career goals. Furthermore, it is intended to enable further scientific work and promote independent and self-reliant action. Taking into account the requirements of the professional world, competencies, skills, and methods in the fields of institutional and functional business administration, economics, and empirical research methods are taught in such a way that the student is able to independently and responsibly assess complex scientific problems and apply the solutions found in business practice.
The study plan includes the following modules:
- 1st Semester: Business Management Fields in SMEs, Controlling and Financing in SMEs, Changing Work, Innovation and Technology Management, Business Ethics and Corporate Governance, Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods
- 2nd Semester: Corporate and Personnel Management in SMEs, Industrial Production, Business Valuation, State and Financial Sciences, Behavioural Decision Making, Practical Seminar
- 3rd Semester: Elective Module, Consumer Behavior Research, Strategic Management, Business Taxation, Economic Policy, Scientific Seminar
- 4th Semester: Research Colloquium, Master's Thesis
