For example, with your M.Sc. in Psychology, you can work in Systemic Counseling, Coaching, or even in research.

Prerequisite for admission to this degree programme is a successfully completed Bachelor's degree in (Applied) Psychology with at least 180 ECTS credits and a final grade of "good" or better, or a successful completion of a study programme of comparable content.

The admission committee decides on the equivalence of a study programme in (Applied) Psychology or a comparable programme that was not completed at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences.

For applicants with a final grade lower than "good," there is the possibility of compensation through proof of professional or voluntary activities in a relevant field of psychology. Depending on the duration of the proven professional experience, deviations from the required final grade can be compensated. The decision on the consideration of the stated professional experience lies with the admissions committee for the allocation of study places.

For applicants with a different native language than German: knowledge of the German language must be proven to be at least at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or at an equivalent level.

Study Contents and Specializations

As part of the academic education, you will gain in-depth knowledge of scientific and methodological research and practice fields within psychology, assuming prior knowledge from a bachelor's degree in psychology. By choosing individual specializations, you have the opportunity to tailor the course to your interests and inclinations. For example, you can choose between Clinical Psychology, Work and Organisational Psychology, or Counselling Psychology (Conflict Mediation and Mediation or Counselling and Coaching). In addition, an empirical study is anchored in the curriculum as part of a project. An eight-week internship is also mandatory.

The study plan includes the following modules:

  • 1st Semester: Multivariate Analysis Methods, Testing and Decision Making, Test Theory and Construction: Specialisation, Reception of Current Research Results, Methods and Current Topics in Cognitive Neuroscience, Methods of Communication
  • 2nd Semester: Empirical Research and Evaluation in Theory and Practice, Psychological Reports in Practice, Supplementary Module (Minor Subject), Elective Module
  • 3rd Semester: Empirical Study, Elective Module, 8-week full-time internship
  • 4th Semester: Seminar for Master's Thesis, Master's Thesis, and Disputation

Throughout the course, you will also delve into exciting specializations, such as Application Fields of Clinical Psychology, Intervention and Rehabilitation in Clinical Psychology, Coaching and Counselling Psychology, Mediation and Conflict Moderation in Counselling Psychology, Human Resources and Organisational Psychology (locations in Cologne and Munich), or Work and Organisational Psychology (location in Frankfurt am Main).

Fresenius University offers the Master's degree in Psychology at a total of 5 locations in Germany. Practically: If you want to get to know a new city during your studies, simply switch to one of the other campuses of the university.

Frankfurt: Frankfurt am Main is a compact city, but at the same time, it has an interesting big-city character with an international flair. In addition to the banking and real estate industry, the city also offers a lively media scene and a well-established healthcare sector. You can find the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences of Fresenius University in Frankfurt at Marienburgstraße 6.
