The part-time Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion & Prevention is aimed at individuals who want to actively contribute to promoting health and prevention in companies, organisations, or the public sector. The course specifically addresses professionals and career changers from the healthcare sector, nursing professionals, healthcare providers as well as persons from sports and fitness professions with relevant training. You are also addressed if you already have a subject-related professional qualification and wish to scientifically underpin your knowledge in the areas of public health, workplace health promotion, or coaching.
Formal Admission: What Do You Need to Bring?
The following admission requirements apply for enrolment in the part-time Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion & Prevention at Hochschule Fresenius:
- General university entrance qualification (Abitur) or advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
- Alternatively: Qualified professional advancement training (e.g. master craftsman’s examination) or comparable professional qualification according to state law
- Completed training in one of the following disciplines:
- Health management clerk (min. 5 semesters)
- Healthcare providers: dietitian, occupational therapist, speech therapist, voice, speech, language and swallowing therapist (statutorily insured approved), masseur and medical bath attendant, physiotherapist, podiatrist (min. 4 semesters)
- Nursing professions with three-year training: certified nurse, health and paediatric nurse, geriatric nurse (min. 4 semesters)
- Paramedic, anaesthesia technical assistant, surgical technical assistant (min. 4 semesters)
- Medical technologists: laboratory analytics, radiology or functional diagnostics
- Midwife (min. 4 semesters)
- Sports specialist or sports and fitness clerk (min. 4 semesters)
- For subject-related training (e.g. osteopath), individual assessment of admission eligibility is possible
- For prospective students without a formal university entrance qualification: access via advanced training or passing an entrance examination is possible
- A numerus clausus (NC) is not required
Ideally, you should already have professional practical experience in the health sector, prevention services, or corporate contexts. Strong communication skills are important to successfully convey preventive measures. Interest in interdisciplinary approaches, a high level of self-motivation, and the ability to learn independently and in a structured manner are advantageous. Course Content in Detail
In the part-time Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion & Prevention at Hochschule Fresenius, you will acquire scientifically based and practice-relevant skills in the field of Public Health. The core topics include:
- Anatomy and Pathology: Basic knowledge of the anatomy of the human body, especially the extremities, as well as knowledge of the origin and prevention of diseases.
- Fundamentals of Prevention and Health Promotion: Theories, models and measures of health promotion, structural and behavioural prevention, fields of action in prevention as well as health promotion in various living environments.
- Occupational Health Management: Development and management of health-promoting structures and processes in companies, ergonomics coaching and prevention courses.
- Psychological and Educational Aspects: Applied organisational psychology, coaching, counselling and empowerment for individual health promotion.
- Scientific Methodology: Scientific work, basics of statistics and test theory, analysing and interpreting health-related data.
- Communication and Marketing in Healthcare: Strategies for target group-specific communication and conveying health-related topics.
- Specialisation and Elective Areas: You can choose specialisations such as ergonomics coaching, occupational health management or health navigators for healthy companies.
In addition, social skills and case-related action security are strengthened in order to be able to plan, implement and evaluate health measures in a well-founded manner. The degree concludes with a bachelor's thesis and an oral examination.
Course Structure: How the Part-Time Degree Programme Works
The bachelor's degree programme is designed for seven semesters (180 ECTS) and takes place part-time on the online campus of Hochschule Fresenius. You attend virtual live lectures scheduled on one to two evenings per week as well as two Saturdays per month. Interaction with lecturers and fellow students takes place in small groups, enabling an intensive learning experience.
- The language of instruction is German.
- Start is each winter semester.
- The course content is provided in a multimedia and didactically prepared format.
- You can take exams flexibly and often online; alternatively, six examination centres in Germany are available.
- Recognition of non-university competencies to shorten the duration of study is possible.
- During the course, you choose two specialisation subjects from three elective options each.
- With StudyPLUS, there is access to more than 400 additional offers per semester, e.g. language courses or career workshops.
The course enables you to apply acquired knowledge directly in your current professional activity and to reflect on practical problems together with the group.

Study Location: How Does the Online Degree Work?
The course is conducted entirely on the online campus of Hochschule Fresenius. This means you are not tied to a fixed location and can participate from anywhere. Teaching takes place via virtual live sessions, which provide you with fixed scheduling and personal interaction. You can mostly take exams online; on request, six examination centres in Germany are also available.

Hochschule Fresenius also operates various on-site locations in Germany; however, there is no attendance requirement at any of these locations for this degree programme.
Costs and Financing: What Does the Degree Cost and What Are the Options?
The tuition fees for the Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion & Prevention at the online campus start at €390 per month over seven semesters (42 months), totalling approx. €16,380. A one-time registration fee of €250 is added. All study materials, support, access to StudyPLUS offers and participation in examinations are included in the fees.
