Who is the Business Psychology Degree aimed at?

The Bachelor's degree in Business Psychology is aimed at prospective students who want to analyse and understand human behaviour in an economic context. The course is especially suitable for school leavers with the Abitur, persons with a university of applied sciences entrance qualification, or professionally qualified individuals who are aiming for a career at the interface of business and psychology. Typical target groups are future professionals for HR departments, management consulting, marketing, market research or organisational development. The degree is also a suitable qualification for career changers with a commercial or psychological background, provided there is an interest in psychological and business management methods.

What formal requirements must you meet?

For admission to the Business Psychology (B.Sc.) degree programme at Hochschule Fresenius, you need a higher education entrance qualification. This can be demonstrated by the following educational qualifications:

  • General university entrance qualification (Abitur)
  • Subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or university of applied sciences entrance qualification
  • Completion of a vocational training programme of at least two years followed by, as a rule, at least three years of professional experience and a passed entrance examination (studying without Abitur)
  • Master craftsman’s certificate or an equivalent advanced training qualification according to the Vocational Training Act

There is no Numerus Clausus (NC). You can apply all year round. Additional documents such as CV, certificates and, if applicable, proof of practical experience may be requested during the application process.

For the course, you should have an interest in psychological issues and economic processes. Analytical skills are important since methodology, statistics and empirical research make up a large part of the course content. Furthermore, communication skills, the ability to work in a team and a basic understanding of mathematics are advantageous. Personal commitment to interdisciplinary work and the willingness to engage with complex social contexts will facilitate learning success.

In the Bachelor's degree programme in Business Psychology at Hochschule Fresenius, you will learn how to apply psychological theories and methods specifically in an economic context. The course combines fundamentals of business administration with psychological content and equips you with the skills to analyse and manage human behaviour in companies, markets and organisations.

  • Business Administration and Law: Fundamentals of business administration, accounting, civil law and labour law, business ethics and sustainability
  • Psychology: General Psychology I and II, Social Psychology, Personality and Differential Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Biological Psychology, Communication Psychology, Clinical Psychology in the Workplace
  • Statistics and Research Methods: Descriptive statistics and probability theory, inferential statistics, research methods I and II, empirical research project, academic writing
  • Psychological Diagnostics: Fundamentals of test theory, psychological diagnostics

During the course, you choose two specialisations – at least one of them from business psychology (e.g. personnel psychology, work psychology and digitalisation, organisational psychology, market, advertising and media psychology, or coaching and counselling psychology). Additionally, you can add further specialisations from the fields of media, event, management or sport, such as health psychology, international management or social media management. This way, you tailor your studies to your personal interests.

Course Structure: How Is the Programme Organised?

The programme is designed as a full-time on-campus course with a standard duration of 6 semesters. If you opt for an integrated practical semester, the course extends to 7 semesters and you earn 210 ECTS credits instead of the regular 180 ECTS. The timetable is arranged so that a part-time job can be easily combined with your studies.

  • Start possible each semester, both summer and winter
  • Modules consist of lectures, seminars, practical exercises, case studies and project work
  • Practical semester can be integrated on request
  • Practical involvement through a practical project and an empirical research project
  • Two individual specialisations, one elective module and a bachelor's thesis to conclude

The programme is conducted in German. Prospective students can apply throughout the year; there is no numerus clausus (NC) admission restriction.

This results in total costs of at least 27,000 euros over 6 semesters (36 months). In addition, there is a one-time enrolment fee of 695 euros. Additional costs for study materials or examinations may arise depending on individual needs.
