- no Numerus Clausus, school leaving certificate grade does not play a role for admission
- study in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich or Wiesbaden
- you can change the place of study during the course of your studies
- including a practical semester and optionally with a semester abroad
Admission Requirements
In order to begin a university degree course at the AMD Academy of Fashion and Design, applicants must provide proof of the required qualification for the course (university entrance qualification). This is demonstrated by:
- the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the respective subject area and in the federal states indicated on the certificate,
- or the university of applied sciences entrance qualification, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a tiered degree programme at a university in the federal states indicated on the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without an Abitur or university of applied sciences entrance qualification, provided the following conditions for studying without Abitur are met:
- You have passed a master craftsman’s examination.
- Or you have a qualification according to the regulation on access to universities for professionally qualified persons in the state of Hesse, i.e. either a qualification from professional advanced training of at least 400 hours, the completion of a technical school or a vocational or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognised vocational training occupation followed by at least three years of professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.
Course Content and Specialisations
The degree programme provides you with the necessary know-how as well as solid practical skills to creatively realise your vision for fashion and fashion collections using new technologies and research. The course includes a practical internship phase lasting 6 months. You can choose to study in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich or Wiesbaden.

- 1st–3rd semester: Creativity training, Team building, Academic work, Fashion design, Creative construction systems, History of clothing and design, Manufacturing technology, Textile technology, Technical projects, Technical drawing, Artistic forms of representation, Fashion presentation, Design theory, Computer applications, Visual communication, Elective modules
- 4th semester: Fashion design, Men‘s design, Creative construction systems, Aesthetics / Fashion theory, Manufacturing technology, Textile technology, Material technology, CAD Grafis, Fashion presentation, Multimedia presentation
- 5th semester: Internship
- 6th semester: Fashion design, Creative construction systems, Fashion in context, Fashion marketing, Product management, Manufacturing technology, Material technology, CAD Grafis
- 7th semester: Business start-up, Application preparation, Bachelor supervision, Bachelor thesis, Bachelor colloquium, Presentation / Documentation (Show)
During the course, you will also deepen your knowledge in exciting elective modules, for example in Advertising, Communication, Retail, Event or Digital Media.

- Fashion Design, B.A.: In this English-language bachelor’s programme, you will learn creative, craft and technical skills as well as interdisciplinary thinking to create modern fashion collections. The course includes a practical semester. You study in Berlin at the Campus for Fashion and Design of the AMD.
- Fashion and Design Management, B.A.: This bachelor degree prepares you for management roles in the fashion, lifestyle and consumer goods industries. The course combines solid theory with a high practical relevance – for example through internships, collaboration with companies and trade fair visits. You can choose to study in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Munich or Wiesbaden.
