Admission Requirements

In order to enroll in a university course at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, study applicants must provide the necessary qualifications for university studies (university entrance qualification). This can be demonstrated by:
- the general qualification for university entrance (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the corresponding subject area and in the federal states specified in the certificate,
- or the vocational higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a coordinated degree program at a university in the federal states specified in the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without a Abitur or vocational higher education entrance qualification. The following is required for admission without Abitur:
- You have successfully completed a master craftsman examination.
- Or you have a qualification in accordance with the Regulation on the Access of Qualification Professionals to Universities in the State of Hessen, which includes either a qualification from a vocational advanced training of at least 400 hours, a qualification from a technical school or a professional or administrative academy, or a successfully completed final examination in a state-recognized vocational training occupation with at least three years of subsequent professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

One of the oldest diagnostic methods is the examination of the body through palpation. Basics of palpation, treatment techniques, and the possibilities of osteopathic tests are extensively covered from the first semester onwards. Throughout the course of the study, the symptoms and activity of the tissue, the connections between internal and external well-being, palpatory integration, and health sciences are key focal points.
The study plan includes the following modules:
- 1st Semester: Principles of development, Body - Self I, Diagnostics I, Models of Perception
- 2nd Semester: Scientific methodological competence I, Body - Self II, Diagnostics II, Vitality
- 3rd Semester: Pathophysiology and Diagnostics/Therapy, Diagnostics and Therapy, Palpatory Dimension of Osteopathic Practice, Evidence-based Practice in Osteopathy
- 4th Semester: Medical Integration, Regulatory Models, Visceral Osteopathy
- 5th Semester: Psychiatry-Neurology, Emergency Management, Palpatory Integration, Scientific methodological competence II
- 6th Semester: Osteopathic Identity and Professionalism, Framework for Professional Practice, Differential Diagnosis I, Electives
- 7th Semester: Practical Clinical Training

The sixth semester is a practical semester where students apply their acquired knowledge in the professional field. Here, the Fresenius University cooperates with various partners.
By the way, Osteopathy is considered a form of medical practice in Germany. This means that it can only be practiced by naturopaths and doctors. Therefore, in order to work as an osteopath, you must pass the naturopathic exam during or after your studies. The program prepares you intensively for this exam.
