Who is the distance learning course in Communication Psychology suitable for?
The distance learning course in Communication Psychology (B.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius is aimed at individuals who want to analyse, understand and deliberately manage communication in all its facets. The course is particularly suitable for career starters interested in psychology, media and management, as well as for professionals who want to further qualify themselves in communication, PR, marketing, personnel development or media consultancy. Candidates without the classic university entrance qualification can also find a suitable entry through alternative access routes – regardless of age and previous career path.
What formal access routes are there?
For the distance learning course in Communication Psychology, you need a university entrance qualification. The following entry options apply:
- General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur): Direct access to the course.
- Advanced technical college entrance qualification or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification: Access depending on the subject orientation and federal state.
- Completed vocational training of at least 2 years plus 2 years of relevant professional experience: Additionally, a subject-specific university entrance examination is required.
- Master craftsman certificate or equivalent advanced training (e.g. specialist, business administrator, technician) with at least 400 teaching hours: Access also via a subject-specific university entrance examination.
- Intermediate school leaving certificate plus three-year vocational training with a final grade of 2.5 or better: Admission via a study agreement (at least 18 CP in the first semester or 30 CP in the first academic year must be successfully completed); with a lower final grade, the subject-specific university entrance examination must also be passed.
In special cases, Hochschule Fresenius assesses the documents individually. Applications with professional qualifications and aptitude tests are also possible if relevant practical experience and a counselling interview are proven.
You do not have to meet a numerus clausus. Entry is possible all year round at the beginning of the month.
What personal requirements should you bring?
You should have a strong interest in psychological, social science and communicative topics. Analytical thinking and the willingness to apply scientific methods are advantageous. Since the course is project-oriented and includes modules such as Communication Management, Media and Intercultural Competence, openness to different perspectives, social skills and the ability to work in a team are important.
For online teaching, a high level of self-organisation and self-motivation is required, as well as basic digital skills. Basic English language skills are helpful, as selected modules are conducted in English.
