Requirements and Target Group

The Bachelor's degree programme in Business Psychology via distance learning at Hochschule Fresenius is aimed at everyone who wants to combine psychological and economic skills. The course is suitable for school graduates with university entrance qualification as well as for professionals who wish to further qualify in the fields of personnel management, marketing, organisational development or consulting. The offer is especially tailored to people who want to study flexibly alongside their job or independently of location and who have an interest in human behaviour in economic contexts.

What admission requirements do you need to meet?

For admission to the distance learning Bachelor of Science in Business Psychology at Hochschule Fresenius, one of the following options applies:

• General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification or subject-specific university entrance qualification (admission depending on federal state or field of study)
• Completed vocational training of at least 2 years in a related field and at least 2 years of full-time professional work in a related field, plus successful participation in a subject-specific university entrance examination
• Completed master craftsman’s examination or other advanced training with at least 400 hours of instruction (e.g. specialist business administrator, business manager, technician), plus a subject-specific university entrance examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate and completed vocational training of at least 3 years with a final grade of 2.5 or better (if grade is lower: participation in a further entrance examination), plus proof of independent study of some modules in the first year (minimum 18 CP/1st semester or 30 CP/1st academic year)

In individual cases, the university also examines other submitted qualifications or professional credentials and decides individually on admission.

For the course you should have an interest in psychological questions as well as in business administration contexts. Analytical thinking skills, communication skills and the willingness to engage with empirical research methods are advantageous. Self-discipline, personal responsibility and good time management are important, as it is a flexibly organised distance learning programme. Some practical experience in personnel management, marketing or business consulting facilitates the entry but is not strictly required.

Study Content in Detail: What Will You Learn in the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Psychology (B.Sc.)?

In the distance learning programme Business Psychology at Hochschule Fresenius, you combine skills from business administration and psychology. The course includes fundamental modules such as business administration, economics, internal and external accounting, as well as descriptive and inductive statistics. You will learn methods of psychological diagnostics, develop your communication and presentation skills, and deal with the principles of sustainable corporate management and Corporate Social Responsibility.

A particular focus is placed on psychological modules such as general psychology, social and developmental psychology, differential psychology, and clinical psychology in working life. You will choose two specialisations from the areas of personnel psychology, market, advertising and media psychology, as well as organisational psychology and consultancy. Furthermore, you will strengthen your intercultural competence and knowledge in international business through corresponding modules. The curriculum is complemented by practical content such as a start-up project, empirical research projects, and business law for psychologists. You will complete your studies with a scientific bachelor’s thesis.
