Admission requirements

With your Master's in Computer Science, you can work as a Software Developer, Data Scientist, IT Consultant, or IT Manager, for example.

The prerequisite for admission to this degree programme is a successfully completed Bachelor's degree (with a grade of "good" or better) with at least 180 ECTS credits or a comparable academic qualification, such as a diploma. In case of a different grade average, the ability to study may be demonstrated by a separate selection interview.

In the preceding Bachelor's programme, at least 60 credit points should be allocated to the fields of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or in other fields related to computer science, such as Mathematics, Programming, Design, and Software Architecture, with at least 60 CP.

In case of a Bachelor's programme that has not yet been fully completed, 80% of the required credit points must have been obtained at the time of application. The remaining credits must be completed by the time of enrollment at the latest.

In addition, you must provide proof of English language proficiency, unless it is your native language, either through 85 points in the TOEFL iBT test, an IELTS score of 6.0, or a Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English with at least grade B.

Study Content and Specializations

The Master's programme Computer Science (M.Sc.) at Hochschule Fresenius is ideal for graduates of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields who wish to advance their careers in the field of digital technologies. The programme is taught in English and provides in-depth methodological and technological knowledge in the areas of Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence.

The study plan includes the following modules:

  • 1st Semester: Cyber Attacks & Threat Management, IIOT / Intro to Python, Intelligent Systems, Project Management, Research Methodology, German I: Living in Germany or Intercultural Communication & Competence
  • 2nd Semester: Machine Learning, Enterprise Security Architecture, Specialization, Quantitative & Qualitative Methods for Business, German II: Working in Germany / Foreign Language Skills
  • 3rd Semester: Security Governance, IT Law & Compliance, Information Security Strategy, Project AI / Cyber Security, Managing Transformation & Change, Scientific Work in Practice
  • 4th Semester: Innovation Process and Technology Development, Architecture and Process Management, Master's Thesis

In the third semester, an internship or a semester abroad can be completed to gain additional intercultural or professional experience. During the course of the programme, you will also delve into exciting specialisations such as Cyber Security or Artificial Intelligence.

Graduates of the programme possess a deep understanding of designing, maintaining, and analysing digital systems. They are able to effectively and responsibly apply methods and tools in critical areas such as Cyber Security or artificial intelligence.

The Study Locations: Berlin & Cologne

Hochschule Fresenius offers the Master's in Computer Science at two locations in Germany. Conveniently, if you want to explore a new city during your studies, you can simply switch to one of the other campuses of the university.

Berlin: In Berlin, Hochschule Fresenius operates a campus for the Department of Business & Media at Jägerstraße 32, located in Berlin-Mitte directly at Gendarmenmarkt. Another campus for the Department of Fashion & Design is situated in Prenzlauer Berg. Berlin, as the capital city and political centre, is also an exciting university city – with around 170,000 students in Berlin.

Cologne: Cologne, the vibrant 1.1 million metropolis in North Rhine-Westphalia, offers not only a lot of culture and entertainment. The city is simultaneously one of the most important economic hubs in Germany.
