Admission requirements

Admission to the Communication Design degree programme is granted to those who meet one of the following requirements:


• General higher education entrance qualification
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and a qualified completion of a recognised vocational training programme of at least 3 years, with an average or overall final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not given, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Proof of outstanding scientific or artistic ability by means of an aptitude test by DIPLOMA Hochschule at the start of studies


Further information on specific qualifications will be gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the requirements listed above may initially participate in the studies as guest auditors if admission to the HZB examination is in place.


For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Details

Visual communication is the basis of communication and graphic design. In this course, you will learn how to prepare information and make it understandable. You need to master things like perception psychology, visual marketing, and software skills. Your work will be needed across many different media and channels.


The Bachelor’s degree “Communications Design” (B.A.) prepares you as a 6-semester on-site course for the constantly evolving demands of agencies and companies. A particular focus is placed on the current and future trends of the media and graphic design industry, including the increasing role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI).


As part of the course, you will get to know modern design techniques and develop an understanding of the use of new technologies in design and marketing. You will also receive a solid business foundation that helps you understand the impact of technologies such as AI on business processes. Furthermore, it offers insights into important forms of presentation for digital media. You will also learn how new technologies can influence these disciplines. In addition to these practical aspects, the course includes communication models, intercultural communication, and business-related content such as the module “Start-up in Design”.


During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

Course progression
At DIPLOMA University, you have the possibility to study the Bachelor’s degree Childhood Education in one of three variants: as an online degree, as a distance learning degree on site, or as an on-site degree.


The on-site degree is available at our DIPLOMA university location Stein/ Nuremberg and usually takes six semesters standard study period. In the classic university of applied sciences course, you attend lectures, seminars, and exercises on campus from Monday to Friday in person. The total workload comprises 180 ECTS (Credit Points).

Costs, registration & start of studies

The on-site degree starts once a year in the winter semester (October).
