Admission requirements

Admission to the Communication Design degree programme is granted to those who meet one of the following requirements:

• General university entrance qualification (Allgemeine Hochschulreife)
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and a qualified completion of a recognised vocational training programme of at least 3 years, with an average or overall final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not specified, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Proof of outstanding scientific or artistic ability by means of an aptitude test at the DIPLOMA Hochschule at the beginning of studies

Details

Visual communication is the foundation of communication and graphic design. In this course, you will learn how to prepare information and make it understandable. You will need to master aspects such as perceptual psychology, visual marketing, and software skills. Your work will be needed across many different media and channels.

The Bachelor's degree programme "Kommunikationsdesign" (B.A.) prepares you as a 7-semester (online) distance learning course for the constantly evolving demands of agencies and companies. A special focus is placed on the current and future trends in the media and graphic design industry, including the increasing role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

As part of the course, you will become familiar with modern design techniques and develop an understanding of the use of new technologies in design and marketing. You will also receive a solid business foundation to help you understand the impact of technologies such as AI on business processes. Furthermore, it offers insights into important forms of presentation for digital media. You will also learn how new technologies can influence these disciplines. In addition to these practical aspects, the programme includes communication models, intercultural communication, and business content such as the module "Existenzgründung im Design" (Starting a Business in Design).

During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

Course progression
At DIPLOMA Hochschule, you have the option to study the Bachelor's degree in Childhood Education in one of three variants: as an online degree, as on-site distance learning, or as in-person study.

The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA Hochschule is designed according to the "blended learning" principle. This means you work through the study materials with the help of study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in some cases also on weekday evenings. In the online course, these are held as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice.

Costs & start of studies
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA Hochschule starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). Starting your studies is – after individual review – also possible at any other time.
