• General university entrance qualification, advanced technical college entrance qualification, passed master craftsman examination, intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and a qualified completion of a recognised vocational training of at least 3 years with an average/overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not stated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies) or (after individual assessment) in accordance with the regulation on access to universities in the state of Hesse for professionally qualified applicants
• Proof of a completed three-year vocational training in the field of physiotherapy or proof of the start of training as a state-certified physiotherapist

If the vocational training is not successfully completed, the study cannot be continued. Prospective physiotherapists from vocational colleges for physiotherapy can gain access to the work-study model provided the university entrance requirements are met
• Already qualified physiotherapists are also credited with 90 ECTS on the basis of their completed training upon submission of their final certificate and their licence to practise as a “physiotherapist”.

Further information on specific qualifications will be provided on request. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may initially attend the course as guest auditors if admission to the HZB examination is granted.

For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Your questions, further information on admission requirements as well as detailed advice on specific qualifications will be gladly provided by the advisors of the study service at DIPLOMA University upon request.

Details

The Physiotherapy degree programme leading to a Bachelor of Science is aimed on the one hand at qualified physiotherapists who complete the course as a five-semester advanced programme. Those still undergoing vocational training in physiotherapy and who have the university entrance qualification according to Hessian law can complete the course alongside their training over eight semesters.

The Bachelor's degree programme "Physiotherapy" (B.Sc.) is designed as an (online) distance learning course to impart additional professional skills that meet both the academic standards and the practical requirements of the professional field equally. The distance learning programme is intended to provide you with the necessary knowledge to understand the scientific foundations of the involved disciplines and to be able to apply and reflect on the instruments of physiotherapy in a case-related and methodical way. In addition, you will learn to reflect on your actions and to plan upcoming therapy-relevant steps. Furthermore, you will be able to incorporate legal requirements and business management necessities into your therapeutic actions as well as client-specific demands.

During the course of your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus in order to deepen your skills further.

Areas of emphasis in the Bachelor's degree programme in Physiotherapy are:
• Business Management and Leadership
• Health Education
• Manual Therapy
• Sports Physiotherapy

Course progression
At DIPLOMA University, you have the option to study the Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy as an online course or as a distance learning course on site.

The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the "blended learning" principle. This means you work through the study content using study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in exceptional cases also on weekday evenings. In the online study mode, these take place as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice. In the distance learning programme on site, you attend your real in-person seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Hannover or Leipzig.

Please note: This distance learning degree programme is an ideal academic further qualification for all physiotherapy students in vocational training (alongside training over 8 semesters). However, it also offers a good further qualification for already practising physiotherapists (advanced programme 5 semesters).

The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University begins every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). Starting the programme – following individual assessment – is also possible at any other time.
