Admission requirements

Admission to the Design & Leadership degree programme is granted to those who meet the following requirements:

• Completed Bachelor's degree (or Diploma) at DIPLOMA University or at another university or university of applied sciences (in the fields of Graphic Design, Visual Communication or comparable designations) or an equivalent foreign degree in the same field with a standard period of study of at least six semesters.
• Proof of design qualification through a portfolio of own work.

A separate procedure is provided for applicants from related fields of study such as Fine Art, Architecture, etc.

The preceding professionally qualifying degree must have been completed with a grade of at least 2.5. Applicants with a lower final grade must demonstrate their suitability for a master’s degree in an assessment interview with the admissions committee.

Details

The Master’s degree programme Design & Leadership is aimed at individuals with a first academic degree in the form of a Bachelor’s or diploma who wish to obtain a further academic qualification – for example, alongside their profession or other commitments, such as family obligations. The Master’s degree programme is designed as a consecutive programme primarily for graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programme Communication Design at DIPLOMA Hochschule, thereby providing a comprehensive education in design from the Bachelor’s to the Master’s level. Furthermore, designers with degrees from other universities are explicitly welcomed who aim to achieve a Master’s degree for their professional and interdisciplinary further qualification.

The Master’s programme “Design & Leadership” (M.A.) offers you a strongly project-oriented 5-semester online distance learning course. You will learn to plan, implement and take responsibility for complex design tasks. In addition, you will develop both application-oriented and experimental solutions. You will deepen and expand your professional skills through individual design projects, both independently and as part of a team. Specific course content supports your design development and also provides you with material and impulses that strengthen and shape your professional profile.

During your studies, you will expand your knowledge and core professional competencies in fields such as:

• Design processes
• Team leadership

Course progression
At DIPLOMA Hochschule, you have the opportunity to study the Master’s programme Design & Leadership online.

The online distance learning course at DIPLOMA Hochschule is designed according to the “blended learning” principle. This means that you study the course content with the help of study materials and attend live online seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in individual cases, also on weekday evenings. You can take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice.

Costs & registration
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA Hochschule starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). After individual review, it is also possible to start your studies at any other time.
