Admission requirements

The degree programme Industrial Engineering admits those who meet one of the following requirements:

• General university entrance qualification
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school certificate) and a qualified completion of a recognised vocational training of at least 3 years, which shows an average or overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not indicated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a professional advanced training course of at least 400 teaching units, a technical college, or a vocational or administrative academy*
• Final examination in a state-recognised training occupation with subsequent at least 2 years of professional experience related to the degree programme and passing a separate university entrance examination*

*in accordance with the regulation on access for professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse

Further information on specific qualifications will be gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements can initially participate in the course as guest auditors if admission to the HZB examination is available.
For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Industrial Engineering is one of the most sought-after qualifications on the job market. These specialists are a fixed part of the workforce, especially in the manufacturing industry. Their task is to design operational processes efficiently and to optimise machine settings and resource use. Through technical know-how, these professionals improve essential details of the entire production chain, thereby contributing to an improved business result. The results can be measured in controlling and are incorporated into further developments of production processes and product developments.

The interdisciplinary Bachelor’s degree programme "Industrial Engineering" (B.Eng.) prepares you optimally for professional everyday life as a 7-semester (online) distance learning course. During your studies, you acquire knowledge with which you can optimise processes at the interfaces between technology and business administration. You develop business administration and engineering skills, acquire knowledge of materials and constructions as well as manufacturing techniques, and learn relevant content in electrical engineering and business informatics. Additionally, you gain insights into legal fundamentals. You will also improve your technical English.

During your studies, you can also choose your personal, career-oriented specialisation to further deepen your skills.

Course progression
At DIPLOMA University, you have the opportunity to study the Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in one of three variants: as an online course, as on-site distance learning or as attendance-based study.

The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the “blended learning” principle. This means you work through the study content using study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in individual cases also on weekday evenings. In the online study mode, these take place as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice. In on-site distance learning, you complete your real presence seminars and exams at your selected study centre – in Regenstauf.

Costs & start of studies
The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University begins each year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). After individual review, it is also possible to start the course at any other time.
