Admission requirements

Admission to the Occupational Therapy degree programme is granted to those who meet the following requirements:

• General university entrance qualification, advanced technical college entrance qualification, passed master craftsman’s examination, intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and a qualified completion of a recognised vocational training course of at least three years with an average/final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not stated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies) or (after individual assessment) in accordance with the regulation on access for professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse
• Proof of a completed three-year vocational training course in the field of occupational therapy or proof of the commencement of training as a state-certified occupational therapist
• The part-time degree course begins at the start of the first semester, parallel to the occupational therapy vocational training, which upon successful completion is credited with a total of 90 ECTS. If the vocational training is not successfully completed, the degree course cannot be continued. Access to the training-accompanying study model is available to prospective occupational therapists from vocational schools for occupational therapy if the university entrance requirements are met
• Occupational therapists who are already professionally qualified will likewise receive a credit of 90 ECTS on submission of their final certificate and the permit to use the professional title “Occupational Therapist”.

Further information on specific qualifications is gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements can initially participate in the degree course as guest auditors if admission to the HZB examination is granted.

For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Details

The degree programme Occupational Therapy with the Bachelor of Science qualification is aimed, on the one hand, at trained occupational therapists who complete the programme as a five-semester advanced course. Those who are still in vocational school training in occupational therapy and have university entrance qualifications according to Hessian law can complete the programme alongside their training over eight semesters.

The Bachelor's degree programme "Occupational Therapy" (B.Sc.) is designed as an (online) distance learning course to empower future occupational therapists to make professional decisions and act in specific practical situations. Students can incorporate legal aspects into their decision-making processes as well as ethical, scientific or business management necessities. The programme conveys a broad spectrum of knowledge and complements the skills already acquired in basic training. With the Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, you are optimally prepared for cooperation with other actors in the healthcare sector. Your actions are value-based and always place the well-being of your patients at the centre. You uphold ethical and empathetic principles and give all necessary planning steps a positive direction.

During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

Course Structure
At DIPLOMA University, you have the option to study the Bachelor's programme in Occupational Therapy either as an online course or as on-site distance learning.

The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the "blended learning" principle. This means you work through the study content with the help of study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in individual cases also on weekday evenings. In the online programme, these are conducted as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at a chosen examination centre. In on-site distance learning, you complete your real attendance seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Hanover or Leipzig.

Costs & Registration
The (online) distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University starts every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). After individual review, it is also possible to start your studies at any other time.
