Admission requirements

Those who meet one of the following requirements are admitted to the degree programme Special Education and Inclusive Education (B.A.):

  • General higher education entrance qualification,
  • Advanced technical college entrance qualification,
  • passed master craftsman examination,
  • secondary school leaving certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and a qualified degree from a recognised vocational training programme of at least 3 years, which shows an average/overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not indicated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies),
  • completion of a professional advancement training of at least 400 teaching hours, a technical college or a vocational or administrative academy *
  • final examination in a state-recognised vocational training occupation with subsequent at least 2 years of professional experience related to the degree programme and passing a special university entrance examination *
  • trained social-pedagogical child carers and assistants without a university entrance qualification may be admitted to the university entrance qualification examination (HZB examination) after two years of related professional experience and may start studies immediately as guest auditors

Further information on specific qualifications will be gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements may initially participate in the studies as guest auditors if admission to the HZB examination is granted.

Curative Education and Inclusive Education is an interdisciplinary professional field with societal and socio-political relevance. It is a profession and a field of work that can be located between education and medicine. There is still a high demand for specialists in the professional field of Curative Education and Inclusive Education. Graduates of the degree programme acquire a broad spectrum of competences and skills for working with people in special life situations.
The Bachelor’s degree programme “Curative Education and Inclusive Education” (B.A.) is designed as a six-semester on-site study programme aimed at enabling students to act competently in the field of curative and inclusive education. You will acquire knowledge of theoretical and methodological foundations and develop qualifications in the fields of curative education, inclusive education, sociology, social psychology, and medicine. In addition, students engage with curative educational methods and forms of intervention. You will become familiar with relevant laws and enhance your competences in diagnostics and counselling.
During your studies, you can also choose your personal professional focus to further deepen your skills.
The study focuses in the Bachelor’s degree programme Curative Education and Inclusive Education are:

• Autonomous living
• Flight and migration

Course structure
At DIPLOMA Hochschule, you have the opportunity to study the Bachelor’s degree programme Curative Education and Inclusive Education in one of three variants: as an online study programme, as a distance learning programme on site, or as an on-site study programme.
The on-site study programme is available at our DIPLOMA university locations Leipzig and Bad Sooden-Allendorf and usually takes six semesters to complete. In the classic university of applied sciences study format, you attend lectures, seminars, and exercises on campus from Monday to Friday in person. The entire workload comprises 180 ECTS (credit points).

Costs, application & start of studies
The on-site study programme starts once a year in the winter semester (October).
