Details

Qualified professionals in the social sector are, similar to those in healthcare, in high demand. The fields of "Social Work" and "Social Economy" are experiencing strong growth. It is also foreseeable that the demand for qualified executives will continue to rise due to societal developments and demographic change. Likewise, the number of vacancies has already grown faster than the labour market can meet the demand. A noticeable consequence is the shortage of specialists and also executives in the social sector; among other things, qualified persons are lacking at management level to take on the associated tasks.

The Master's degree programme "Social Management" (M.A.) is aimed particularly at professionals who already have work experience in the social sector and its adjacent areas. In your studies, you will acquire broad, practice-oriented and scientifically based knowledge for the demanding tasks in leadership positions of social institutions, so that you can take on responsibility at management and executive levels, for example in a social institution, an association or a federation.
For this purpose, you will deal with subject areas such as social management, empirical methods, project management and controlling, the legal foundations of the social economy, or organisation and team development. You will get to know typical management tasks, engage with specific financing and contractual issues, and gain insights into social space management and social economy ethics.

During your studies, you can also choose a personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

The focal areas in the Master's degree programme Social Management are:
• Non-Profit Management
• Public Management and Social Planning
• Social Entrepreneurship
