Admission requirements

Admission to the Psychology degree programme is granted to those who meet one of the following requirements:

• General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur)
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
• Master craftsman’s certificate
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and a qualified qualification of at least 3 years recognised vocational training, which shows an average/overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not indicated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of an advanced vocational training of at least 400 teaching hours, a technical school, or a professional or administrative academy*
• Final examination in a state-recognised and related vocational occupation followed by at least 2 years of relevant professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination*

*in accordance with the regulation on access for professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse

For foreign degrees, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Further information on specific qualifications is gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the aforementioned requirements may initially participate in the course as guest auditors if admission to the higher education entrance qualification examination (HZB-Prüfung) is available.

Details

In the Bachelor's degree programme “Psychology” you will be trained in the content-related, subject-methodological, and applied-practical dimensions of psychology. As a graduate, you will be able to develop general and specialised psychological positions and problem solutions, defend them argumentatively towards professionals, clients, and laypeople, and take on subject-specific tasks and responsibilities in certain expert groups and teams. You will be able to assess the social relevance of psychological findings and practices and present the acquired knowledge in an understandable and comprehensible way.

The Bachelor's degree programme “Psychology” (B.Sc.) is designed as an online distance learning course to qualify you as a practitioner of practice-relevant psychology with references to the disciplines of clinical psychology/health and business. The focus of your studies is repeatedly on concrete exercise and reflection units that relate to recurring everyday problems. You will learn to address issues with the help of psychological methods and tools, leading to rational and socially appropriate solutions. Through thorough and practical engagement with social values and conflicts, as well as acquiring team competencies and soft skills, you will develop a psychologically trained personality.

During your studies, you can also choose your personal, career-oriented focus to further deepen your skills.

Course Progression
At DIPLOMA University of Applied Sciences you have the opportunity to study the Bachelor's degree in Psychology as an online programme.

The online distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University of Applied Sciences is designed according to the “blended learning” principle. This means you work through the study content using study booklets and attend live online seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in individual cases also during weekday evenings. You can take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice.

Costs & Registration
The online distance learning programme at DIPLOMA University of Applied Sciences begins every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). Starting your studies is also possible at any other time – after individual review.
