Admission requirements

Admission to the Early Childhood Education degree programme is granted to those who meet the following requirements:

• Proof of a completed vocational training as a state-recognised educator or an equivalent initial professional qualification in the fields of education, pedagogy, or social pedagogy (e.g. curative educator; graduate social pedagogue; primary school pedagogue)
and
• Proof of at least 12 months of professional experience in this field
and
• General university entrance qualification or advanced technical college entrance qualification or
or
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and qualified completion of a recognised vocational training of at least 3 years, with an average/final grade of 2.5 or better

For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

The Bachelor's degree course „Early Childhood Education – Leadership and Management in Early Childhood Education“ is primarily aimed at educators as well as all professional groups in the field of early childhood education as a distance learning course. After successfully completing your studies in early childhood education, you will also obtain the qualification as a state-recognised early childhood educator, which opens up various professional perspectives for you.
The Bachelor's degree „Early Childhood Education – Leadership and Management in Early Childhood Education“ (B.A.) prepares you, as a 5-semester (online) distance learning course, for the assumption of leadership and management tasks in day-care centres and other institutions of early childhood education. This degree programme aims to professionalise early childhood education practitioners and thus aligns the academic qualification with the European level of education. The focus of the course is to qualify students for leadership and management tasks in early childhood and childhood education institutions. The Early Childhood Education programme also includes the analysis of developmental and educational processes in children up to 10 years old.

During your studies, you will expand your knowledge and core professional competencies, among others, in the following areas:
• Professional practice and the field of early childhood education (including a 100-day practical phase)
• Educational partnerships and communication
• Quality management and law
• Organisation and management of early childhood institutions, especially day-care centres

Course progression

At DIPLOMA University, you have the option to study the Bachelor's degree Early Childhood Education in one of two variants, as an online course or as on-site distance learning.

The (online) distance learning at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the „blended learning“ principle. This means you work through the study content using study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in individual cases also on weekday evenings. In the online course, these seminars take place as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice. In the on-site distance learning, you attend your real presence seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Hamburg, Hannover or Leipzig.

Costs & Registration
The (online) distance learning at DIPLOMA University begins every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). Starting your studies is – after individual examination – also possible at any other time.
