Admission requirements
Admission to the Tourism Management degree programme is granted to those who meet one of the following requirements:
• General university entrance qualification (Allgemeine Hochschulreife)
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification (Fachhochschulreife)
• Passed master craftsman’s examination (Bestandene Meisterprüfung)
• Intermediate school certificate (at least Realschulabschluss) and a qualified completion of a recognised vocational training of at least 3 years with an average/overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not indicated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a professional advancement training of at least 400 teaching hours, a technical school, or a vocational or administrative academy *
• Final examination in a state-recognised vocational training occupation with subsequent at least 2 years of professional experience related to the degree programme and passing a separate university entrance examination *
* in accordance with the regulation on access for professionally qualified applicants to universities in the state of Hesse
Further information on specific qualifications is gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the aforementioned requirements may initially participate in the programme as guest auditors if admission to the HZB examination is granted.
For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

The tourism industry is an attractive field of work. Growing travel enthusiasm as well as successful events, fairs and congresses ensure a considerable level of utilisation. At the same time, increased mobility and higher resource consumption inevitably lead to challenges for sustainable development with eco-friendly travel concepts and smart strategies beyond "overtourism".
The Bachelor's degree programme "Tourism Management" (B.A.) imparts to you, as a 7-semester (online) distance learning course, essential key competencies for activities in tourism management. The interdisciplinary course includes, alongside content from business administration and tourism economics, also relevant legal aspects. Through the finely coordinated and practice-oriented content, you acquire travel-specific knowledge and intercultural management skills for the global tourism and event industry. You receive the necessary tools to develop holistic and sustainable strategies, taking into account, beyond the economic basics, ecological, socio-cultural and geopolitical aspects. In addition, you gain comprehensive marketing skills.
During your studies, you can also choose your personal, career-oriented specialisation to further deepen your skills.
The specialisations in the Bachelor's degree programme in Health Management are:
• Business Travel and Hotel Management
• Destination and Event Management
• Sport and Health Management
Course progression
At DIPLOMA University, you have the option to study the Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management in one of three variants: as an online course, as distance learning on site or as face-to-face study.
The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University is designed according to the "blended learning" principle. That means you work through the study content with the help of study booklets and attend seminars. These usually take place on 12 to 14 Saturdays per semester – in individual cases also on weekday evenings. In the online course these take place as live online seminars. You can also take your exams online or at an examination centre of your choice. In the distance learning on site option, you complete your real presence seminars and exams at your chosen study centre – in Wiesau.
Costs & start of studies
The (online) distance learning course at DIPLOMA University begins every year in the summer semester (April) and winter semester (October). The start of studies is – after individual review – also possible at any other time.
The face-to-face course begins once a year in the winter semester (October).
