Admission requirements

Admission to the Tourism Management degree programme is granted to those who meet one of the following requirements:


• General higher education entrance qualification
• Advanced technical college entrance qualification
• Passed master craftsman examination
• Intermediate school leaving certificate (at least secondary school leaving certificate) and qualified completion of a recognised vocational training of at least 3 years, which shows an average/overall or final grade of 2.5 or better (if these grades are not indicated, the arithmetic mean of the individual subject grades applies)
• Completion of a professional advanced training course of at least 400 lessons, a technical college or a vocational or administrative academy *
• Final examination in a state-recognised training occupation followed by at least 2 years of professional activity related to the degree programme and passing a separate university entrance examination *

Further information on specific qualifications is gladly provided upon request. Applicants who do not meet the above requirements can initially participate in the studies as guest auditors if admission to the HZB exam is available.

The tourism industry is an attractive field of work. Growing travel enthusiasm as well as successful events, trade fairs, and congresses ensure a considerable capacity utilisation. At the same time, increased mobility and higher resource consumption inevitably lead to challenges for sustainable development with environmentally friendly travel concepts and smart strategies beyond "overtourism".


The Bachelor's degree programme "Tourism Management" (B.A.) provides you, as a 6-semester on-campus course, with important key competencies for activities in tourism management. The interdisciplinary programme includes, in addition to content from business administration and tourism economics, also relevant legal aspects. Through the finely coordinated and practice-oriented content, you acquire travel-specific knowledge and intercultural management skills for the global tourism and event industry. You receive the necessary tools to develop holistic and sustainable strategies while considering, alongside economic fundamentals, ecological, socio-cultural, and geopolitical aspects. In addition, you acquire comprehensive marketing skills.


During your studies, you can also choose your personal, professionally oriented focus to further deepen your abilities.


The specialisations in the Bachelor's degree in Health Management are:
• Business Travel and Hotel Management
• Destination and Event Management
• Sports and Health Management

Course progression
At DIPLOMA University, you have the option to study the Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management in one of three variants: as an online course, as a distance learning course on-site, or as an on-campus course.


The on-campus course is available at our DIPLOMA university location Bad Sooden-Allendorf and usually lasts six semesters. In the classic university of applied sciences programme, you attend lectures, seminars, and exercises on campus from Monday to Friday. The total learning achievement comprises 180 ECTS (credit points).

Costs, registration & start of studies

The on-campus course begins once a year in the winter semester (October).
