MSB Medical School Berlin is a private, state-recognized university located in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. MSB's philosophy is based on the growing need for qualified professionals in the healthcare market and practically trained young professionals. We offer highly innovative and market-oriented degree programs with a focus on health and medicine in order to meet the challenges in the interdisciplinary health care of the future. In addition to teaching basic competencies, the courses of study also focus on inter-professional and, above all, specific specialist competencies.
Teaching at the MSB takes place at two faculties. The studies can be completed in application-oriented Bachelor's and Master's degree programs with a university of applied sciences degree (Faculty of Health Sciences) as well as in scientific degree programs with a university degree (Faculty of Natural Sciences). In 2020, the MSB received state recognition from the Berlin Senate Chancellery - Science and Research to train physicians at the university level. Since then, the MSB has offered the state examination course in human medicine at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in cooperation with the Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch. The program meets all the quality requirements for a degree in human medicine in Germany. It concludes with the state examination and entitles the student to be licensed to practice medicine.
With the coming into force of the new Psychotherapists Act on 01.09.2020, psychotherapists can in future be trained in a direct course of study followed by further training. MSB will take this new path with you, offering all steps up to entering the profession under one roof. Students who started their bachelor's degree before this date can continue to train as psychological psychotherapists after completing their master's degree according to the old model within the agreed transition period of 12 years. The IPB Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy Training Berlin as a state-approved training institute in the MSB enables you to train as a licensed psychological psychotherapist as well as a child and adolescent psychotherapist.
In order to achieve the best possible promotion of your potential, the MSB stands for small student groups, lives the principle of 'open doors' and thus also opens up the space for commitment, ideas and developments, so that university life remains innovative and exciting. The MSB has a very personal atmosphere. Professors and students know each other, the lecturers and the university management are always approachable. There are no fixed office hours. Every e-mail is answered and there is always time for a conversation. Our Career Center and the International Office provide help and advice to set the course for your career in the healthcare sector.
Experiences & Reviews

👉 Rate honestly nowStudents at MSB Medical School Berlin generally express satisfaction with their studies, highlighting both positive aspects and areas for improvement. The study content and teaching quality are particularly praised: the content is considered practical and up-to-date, and learning often takes place in small groups.
Many students emphasise the personal support - instructors often know their students by name, are easily approachable, and take the time to answer questions. Due to the familiar atmosphere, most students feel well taken care of and supported.
Also, digitally, the university is well-equipped: lectures are made available online and instructors usually respond quickly to emails, facilitating flexible learning.
However, some report that the workload - especially in challenging subjects like Medicine or Psychology - is very high and there is a lot of pressure to perform. Some also criticize rigid structures with high attendance requirements, which sometimes overshadow independent learning. Nevertheless, the academic quality is generally considered high, and the majority would recommend the studies to others.
The facilities and campus life at MSB receive mixed evaluations. Positive aspects include modern and functional seminar rooms and technology; required literature is promptly provided, and all essential software offers are available. However, the limited campus size and infrastructure pose challenges for students. The campus in the "Siemens Villa" is relatively small - there is no proper canteen, only a small cafeteria with a very limited selection and often no hot meals.
The library is also described as small and not particularly quiet, making on-site learning difficult. Additionally, technical issues such as frequent Wi-Fi outages are mentioned, affecting daily life.
The student life outside of seminars is rather quiet; many mention a lack of "flair" or typical campus atmosphere. Some find it challenging to make new contacts, especially as part of the teaching is online - the "flirting factor" on campus is considered low by the majority.
On a positive note, the urban location is highlighted: the transport connections in Berlin are excellent, making the campus easily accessible.
In terms of careers and practical relevance, MSB offers clear advantages to its students. The university excels in its practical orientation - internships, small exercises, and realistic case studies are firmly embedded in the curriculum. Many instructors come directly from the field or incorporate current developments in their field into teaching, which is well-received by students.
Specifically in the field of Human Medicine, the hands-on training in small groups is positively highlighted, as practical skills are trained early. In Psychology and other health-related courses, students appreciate the integration of theory and practice, as well as additional offerings like workshops for developing soft skills. Through collaborations and networks with clinics, companies, or partner universities at home and abroad, many feel well-prepared for their career entry. Additionally, the opportunity to complete courses at MSB that lead directly to further qualifications - such as the psychology programme conforming to the requirements for approbation, paving the way to becoming a psychotherapist - is emphasized. This concrete career perspective and high practical relevance are seen as major strengths of the university.
Many students express clear criticism of the organization and administration at MSB, especially in relation to the high tuition fees. It is repeatedly mentioned that internal processes do not function smoothly: some administrative offices are hard to reach or only respond slowly to enquiries. A frequent point of criticism is the slow release of grades - students complain that they often have to wait a long time for exam results, even though in many cases, the correction is digitally supported. These organizational weaknesses lead to frustration, especially since MSB, as a private university, charges monthly fees of about 700-800€. Many expect a more professional service and better facilities for this price.
Furthermore, it is noted that the high fees do not include a semester ticket for public transport, which is often a given at state universities in Germany and further increases the cost of studying at MSB.
Despite these issues of value for money and administrative shortcomings, most students draw a positive conclusion about their studies. They emphasize that one must be willing to accept certain compromises - especially in terms of organization and finances. However, for those who value intensive support, practical teaching, and a specific career path, MSB offers a university that excels in these areas.
Overall, the image of a dedicated educational institution with excellent personal support and a modern study concept emerges, but one that should noticeably improve in administration and infrastructure.
