Details
Currently and in the future, there is a great demand for highly qualified teachers at public and private vocational schools in the healthcare sector. With the upcoming amendments to the professional licensing laws for therapy and rehabilitation professions as well as diagnostic-technical health professions, it becomes clear that the standard of "university education" for teachers in the healthcare sector will become further established. However, the availability of suitable study places is very limited.
The Master's degree programme in Medical Education at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the MSB Medical School Berlin offers an appropriate study programme that takes into account the increasing qualification requirements for teachers in healthcare. This is a teacher training programme characterised by a clear orientation towards the structure of teacher training courses as well as the nationwide valid recommendations of the Conference of Ministers of Education for teacher training courses. The decision regarding employment is determined by the state-specific employment requirements. However, the chances of employment in this field increase significantly through the targeted alignment with cross-state standards for teacher education. As a graduate, you can work both at healthcare schools and at vocational schools in the public education system.
The part-time model alongside employment offered by MSB Medical School Berlin gives students in the family phase the opportunity to academically qualify themselves alongside work and family. This plays an important role, especially in the predominantly female healthcare sector. Thus, the Master's degree in Medical Education makes a significant contribution to permeability in the education system ("advancement through education") and to the mobilisation of educational resources through the recruitment of working professionals as well as to gender equality.
In the Master's degree, on the one hand, the competences developed in the Bachelor’s degree in Medical Education at MSB are built upon consecutively and further developed at a higher level of demand. In addition, some new focus areas are set, for example in the field of school development or specific medical topics. A completed Bachelor’s degree is the admission requirement for the Master's degree in Medical Education.
In terms of content, the programme is essentially divided into three areas: educational sciences, social sciences, and the elective areas of health sciences (including therapy sciences) or nursing sciences.
