Details
The master's degree programme Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy is offered at the MSB Medical School Berlin’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, thus providing a university degree. The general aim of the master's programme Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy is to enable students, upon graduation, to possess the best possible competence for one of the practical fields of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. This implies – together with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from a university – competencies that are required for entry into psychotherapeutic training. With the degree from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, this path is open to you.
Offer: Double Master’s Degree
The master’s degree programme in Psychology at the MSB is designed so that graduates of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy can obtain an additional master’s degree in Psychology with a focus on Forensic Psychology (M.Sc.) within just one additional year. The master’s programmes are content-wise based on professional and cross-professional competencies, so that these study contents can be recognised in the subsequent master’s degree in Forensic Psychology. In two semesters, you acquire the specific professional competencies of the additional master’s programme and prove your competences in the final master’s thesis.
The new path to becoming a psychotherapist
With the entry into force of the new Psychotherapists Act on 01.09.2020, psychotherapists can in future be trained by means of a direct degree programme followed by further training. The MSB is taking this new path with you and offers all steps up to professional entry under one roof. Students who began their bachelor’s degree before this date can still complete training to become a Psychological Psychotherapist after the master's degree according to the old model within the agreed transitional period of 12 years. The IPB Institute for Integrative Psychotherapy Training Berlin, as a state-recognised training institute within the MSB, enables you to train as a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist as well as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
