Details
The consecutive Master's degree programme in Social Work at MSB Medical School Berlin aims to provide graduates of a Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work, Social Pedagogy, or a comparable qualification with advanced expertise.
In addition to a solid foundation and methodological training, the Master's programme places the main fields of application of Social Work at the centre of teaching: work with people with addictions, in the area of child welfare endangerment, in rehabilitation and health promotion, as well as work with people with mental illnesses. The combination of these focal points presents a special opportunity both for students and for the current and future labour market.
The Master's degree programme in Social Work aims to impart knowledge, skills, and experience which, upon successful completion of the programme, qualify graduates to undertake professional activities in the field of scientifically applied and theory-based Social Work. Central objectives of the Master's programme are therefore the ability to carry out independent scientific work as well as practical work based on scientific principles in all areas of Social Work. There is an increased demand for well-trained specialists who possess empirical knowledge about protective and pathogenic factors, with the possibilities of early detection and intervention. It is also required that methodological competence is paired with clinical and modern management and/or quality management concepts, as well as knowledge of health systems and social systems. This demand is to be met through the methodological and scientific training of the students. The focus of the Master's programme in Social Work lies in the knowledge and practical application of pedagogical, psychological, and social work interventions. The target group for activities in the field of Social Work are people of various ages in precarious life situations with mental illnesses and behavioural disorders who have an individual need for support.
