Details
The Master's degree programme Work and Organisational Psychology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the MSB is aimed at graduates of Bachelor’s degree programmes in Psychology and Business Administration or Economics. The Master’s programme aims to impart comprehensive competences to students for work in the main areas of work and organisational psychology. These particularly include human resources, workplace health promotion and occupational safety, as well as consulting services in the field of personnel and organisation. The Master’s degree enables independent scientific work as well as practical work based on scientific principles in all subject areas of work and organisational psychology. Both the scientific and practical fields of work and organisational psychology are therefore characterised by interdisciplinarity and a close interconnection of psychological and economic issues. The Master’s degree programme in Work and Organisational Psychology is officially recognised and professionally accredited.
The Master’s degree in Work and Organisational Psychology at the MSB has the following special features:
1. Work and Health
With regard to application competences, the Master’s programme in Work and Organisational Psychology further develops not only personnel psychology and consulting competences but also occupational psychology application competences in the area of workplace health management (health-promoting work design and interventions).
2. Scientific Focus: Psychological Research on Stress, Teams and Leadership
Another special feature is the research orientation with an explicitly scientific engagement lasting over two semesters with current research literature and the discussion of own studies in the field of stress, team and leadership research.
3. Methodological Focus: Quantitative Methods
The third distinguishing feature of the Master’s programme in Work and Organisational Psychology is the intensive development of methodological competences in the field of quantitative methods (statistics).
As part of the practical application, students gain an in-depth insight into the working environments of work and organisational psychologists. The aim of the internship is the application, extension and deepening of the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course of study as well as the practical skills and abilities in the area of action competences. The independent processing of new experiences and problems as well as the ability for oral and written reflection are promoted.
