The BSP Business & Law School Berlin - University of Management and Law is a state-recognized private university based in Berlin with additional locations in Hamburg and the Wedding district of Berlin. It was founded in 2009 and currently has around 1,940 students. The university is divided into four faculties and combines both university and university of applied sciences study programs. This dual structure is also reflected in the formal university type: BSP is a University of Applied Sciences (HAW) but also has a university faculty that corresponds institutionally and academically to university status.
Three faculties - Business and Management, Applied Sport Sciences & Personality, and Creative Business - offer application-oriented degree programs with a university of applied sciences degree (Bachelor or Master). These programs follow the model of an HAW, characterized by practical teaching, interdisciplinary study content, and project-based learning. The Business and Management faculty focuses on economics, management, communication science, and business psychology. The study approach combines business efficiency with psychological and communication skills. The business psychology programs stand out due to a unique combination of depth psychological approaches with empirical-quantitative methods.
The Applied Sport Sciences & Personality faculty treats sport as a multidisciplinary science. Here, sport pedagogical, sport psychological, management-related, and legal contents are combined with a special focus on personality development and ethical issues. The faculty maintains close collaborations with renowned sports clubs like ALBA BERLIN, 1. FC Union Berlin, and Wasserfreunde Spandau 04. Programs such as Sports Science, Sport Psychology, or Sports Management and Legal Skills target both high-performance sports and broad sports pedagogical fields.
The Creative Business faculty offers programs at the intersection of design, fashion, marketing, and sustainability. Degree programs such as Sustainable Fashion Design and Management, Fashion Marketing, or Costume and Make-up Design combine creative skills with business know-how. The faculty is located in the Creative Campus in the Wedding district of Berlin, where it has modern workshops and seminar rooms in an industrial setting.
The university faculty of Law rounds off the university's profile. It is state-recognized and concept-accredited by the Science Council, a member of the German Association of Law Faculties, and offers the Law program with a university degree (State Examination). This faculty is equivalent to the legal status of a university faculty and provides a comprehensive legal education leading to the first State Examination. Students obtain a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) after six semesters, followed by the State Examination after nine semesters. The education integrates modern topics such as Legal Tech, E-Health, and conflict resolution and is highly interdisciplinary: students acquire legal knowledge in the context of digitization, economics, psychology, and information technology.
BSP provides a highly practical environment. Through the Career Center, the "B SPACE" Entrepreneur Campus, and formats like "Students meet Experts" or "Innovation Field Trips," companies, institutions, and students are connected early on. International cooperations and an active International Office enable study and practice stays abroad. The integrated Buddy program promotes intercultural exchange and supports international students in integration.
The main campus is located in the listed Siemens Villa in the Lankwitz district of Berlin. This villa from the founding period combines historical charm with modern university infrastructure, including a concert hall and park grounds. The creative campus in Wedding offers space for experimental work in the design and fashion programs. The Hamburg location in the HafenCity provides a modern learning environment in an urban innovation setting.
Research at BSP combines theoretical depth with practical relevance focusing on topics such as digital transformation, innovation, psychological processes, and legal developments. There are institute-based research centers like the Institute for Digital Transformation & Innovation and the Institute for Morphological Psychology. BSP is also eligible to apply for funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG) and commits to good scientific practice guidelines.
With its motto "Studying Business Class," BSP stands for high-quality academic education, individual support, innovation orientation, and social responsibility. The university emphasizes openness, sustainability, diversity, and social responsibility as central values of its educational understanding. Motivation, talent, and personal development are the focus of the selection process - no numerus clausus is applied. Through strong interdisciplinary networking within the faculties and with the industry, BSP offers a unique study environment for future professionals in business, law, sports, and the creative industries.
The university is institutionally accredited by the Science Council, and all degree programs are accredited by the AHPGS.
