Admission Requirements

With your B.Sc. in Psychology, for example, you can complete a Master's in Psychotherapy or work in psychological counseling, coaching or mediation.

To enroll in a psychology degree at Charlotte Fresesnius University, applicants must demonstrate the necessary qualification (university entrance qualification) required for the studies. This is demonstrated by:

  • the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
  • or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the corresponding subject area and in the federal states specified in the certificate,
  • or the vocational high school diploma, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a structured degree program at a university in the federal states specified in the certificate.

Alternatively, you can also be admitted without a high school diploma or vocational high school diploma. Provided the following requirements are met for studying without a high school diploma:

  • You have passed a master's examination.
  • Or you have a qualification in accordance with the regulation on access for professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse, i.e., either a qualification from a professional advanced training course of at least 400 hours, a qualification from a technical school or a professional or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognized training occupation followed by at least three years of professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination.
  • For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be demonstrated for admission.

The course of study complies with all requirements of the law for the reform of psychotherapy training and the licensing regulations for psychotherapists. Therefore, this course enables a subsequent master's degree in psychotherapy.

The study plan includes the following modules:

  • 1st Semester: General Psychology I, Biological Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Its History and Research Methods, Quantitative Methods I
  • 2nd Semester: General Psychology II, Social Psychology, Empirical Scientific Work, Quantitative Methods II
  • 3rd Semester: Differential Psychology and Personality Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Test Theory and Psychological Diagnostics, Research-Oriented Internship
  • 4th Semester: Cognitive-Affective Neuropsychology, Psychopharmacology, Human Biology and Medicine, Diagnostic Procedures and Classification Systems, Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy: Disorders, Requirements in Psychotherapy and Research Ethics, Orientation Internship
  • 5th Semester: Educational Psychology and Educational Psychology, Foundations and Applications, Health Psychology, Job-Qualifying Activities

You can choose to specialize in either Health Psychology or Cognitive-Affective Neuropsychology and Clinical Neuropsychology.
