About Charlotte Fresenius University
Charlotte Fresenius University (CFH) is a private, state-recognized university-equivalent. Like other universities and equivalent universities, CFH has the right to award doctoral degrees.
The university was founded in 2021 under the sponsorship of Hochschule Fresenius gemeinnützige GmbH. The Hochschule Fresenius is one of the largest private on-site universities in Germany, with around 20,000 students.
The university is named after Charlotte Fresenius, the wife of Carl Remigius Fresenius, who founded a Chemical Laboratory and a Laboratory School in Wiesbaden in 1848. Charlotte Fresenius herself had a strong interest in psychological issues. Therefore, the founders of the university decided to name CFH after a woman, Charlotte Fresenius, as the first university equivalent to a university.

In Wiesbaden, the state capital of Hessen, the Hochschule Fresenius, sponsor of Charlotte Fresenius University, has its roots. In 1848, Carl Remigius Fresenius founded his Chemical Laboratory there. The city not only offers numerous historical attractions but also an interesting corporate structure with many medium-sized companies, service providers, agencies, and a lively start-up scene. Psychology Degree without NC at Charlotte Fresenius University
As a university-equivalent private university, CFH offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology starting from the summer semester 2022. The versatile bachelor's degree enables qualification for a consecutive master's degree program in psychology or psychotherapy. When developing the program, the university considered all requirements of the Law on the Reform of Psychotherapist Training (PsychThGAusbRefG) and the Licensing Ordinance for Psychotherapists (PsychThApprO).
The study plan includes these modules:
- 1st Semester: General Psychology I, Biological Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, its History, and Research Methods, Quantitative Methods I
- 2nd Semester: General Psychology II, Social Psychology, Empirical Scientific Work, Quantitative Methods II
- 3rd Semester: Differential Psychology and Personality Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Test Theory, and Psychological Diagnostics, Research-Oriented Internship
- 4th Semester: Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience, Psychopharmacology, Human Biology and Medicine, Diagnostic Procedures and Classification Systems, Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy: Disorders, Requirements in Psychotherapy, and Research Ethics, Orientation Internship
- 5th Semester: Educational Psychology and Educational Psychology, Foundations and Applications, Health Psychology, Professional Qualification Activity
- 6th Semester: Experimental Hours, Basics and Elective Specialization, Bachelor Thesis, Research Colloquium
You can choose either Health Psychology or Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience and Clinical Neuropsychology as a focus.
