Admission requirements

With your B.Sc. in Psychology, for example, you work in health promotion, counselling or you complete a consecutive Master's in Psychology.

In order to be able to start university studies at Hochschule Fresenius, applicants must prove that they have the required qualification for studying (university entrance qualification). This is proven by:

  • general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), this entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
  • or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, this entitles you to study in the corresponding subject and in the federal states listed on the certificate,
  • or the university of applied sciences entrance qualification, this entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a tiered degree course at a university in the federal states listed on the certificate.

Alternatively, you can also be admitted without Abitur or university of applied sciences entrance qualification. The following applies for studying without Abitur:

  • You have passed a master craftsman’s examination.
  • Or you have a qualification according to the ordinance on the access of professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse, i.e. either a qualification from further vocational training of at least 400 hours, the qualification from a technical school or a professional or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognised training occupation followed by at least three years of professional experience and passing a separate university entrance examination.
  • For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Course Content and Specialisations

Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Media Psychology and Personnel Psychology are just a few examples of the diverse range of topics covered. In addition to the fach-related training, cross-disciplinary skills are taught and practised, such as communication techniques, academic working methods, presentation skills, and statistical-methodological competencies.

By selecting two specialisations in the fourth and fifth semesters, further qualification beyond the clinical-psychological area is possible: in the fields of health psychology, health economics or business psychology.

With a degree at Hochschule Fresenius, students choose a modern course of study in small study groups with intensive support from the teaching staff and other university facilities.

  • 2nd semester: Empirical scientific work, Academic Working and Research Methods, Exercise in computer-assisted data analysis, Statistics II, General Psychology II, Social Psychology
  • 3rd semester: Basics of test theory and psychological diagnostics, Developmental Psychology, Personality and Differential Psychology, Introduction to Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy
  • 4th semester: Diagnostic procedures, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Specialisation subject
  • 5th semester: Empirical-experimental internship, Introduction to Work, Organisational and Business Psychology, Specialisation subject
  • 6th semester: Additional subject, Participant hours, Practical internship, Bachelor thesis, Oral examination

During the course of study, you will also deepen your knowledge in exciting specialisations, for example in Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Market, Advertising and Media Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organisational Psychology and Consulting. In addition to the modules provided in your course of study, you have the opportunity to take further elective modules, such as Information and Communication Technology, Self-management and Working in Organisations, foreign languages like Chinese, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish.
