As a private, non-profit university, the Nordakademie stands out from other educational institutions with its social commitment. In close cooperation with its cooperating companies, the Nordakademie trains practically qualified junior staff who are competent, committed, able to communicate and responsible enough to carry out demanding specialist and management tasks in the economy.

The Nordakademie's dual study programmes are designed in such a way that the synergy effects from the combination of the learning locations of the university and the training company can be optimally used to achieve the qualification goals. The university works closely with the cooperating companies in advising and selecting prospective students, developing the curricula, quality assurance and in the transition of graduates into the workplace. With over 2,000 study places and around 380 cooperating companies, the Nordakademie is one of the largest private universities with classroom teaching in Germany.

Five dual Bachelor's degree programmes are offered at the sustainability campus in Elmshorn. During the dual face-to-face studies, theory phases alternate with lectures at the university in Elmshorn (approx. every 13 weeks for 10 weeks) and practical phases in the respective company.

The six part-time Master's degree programmes at the Hamburg location are designed to equip junior managers with the specialist and methodological knowledge they need to take on and fulfil management tasks responsibly, competently and successfully. The organisation of these study programmes is designed to enable participants to cope with the demands of their professional and academic lives (approx. every 6 weeks for 3 days).

With practice-oriented research and the use of state-of-the-art technology, such as in the User Experience Laboratory, the Nordakademie gets to the bottom of problems faced by its cooperating companies. The Nordakademie is a member of the Centre of Excellence for SMEs 4.0 and has research focuses in the areas of data science, e-learning, digitalisation of corporate governance, IT management, digital transformation and user experience design.
