Who is the Master's in Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning suitable for?

What formal admission requirements apply?

For admission, you need a completed, professionally relevant first degree (at least a Bachelor's, usually at least 180 ECTS credits) in areas such as Social Work, Social Pedagogy, Childhood Pedagogy, Educational Science, Educational Studies, Special Education or comparable disciplines. In addition, relevant professional experience is required, ideally in the pedagogical, socio-pedagogical or education-related field. You should also be able to demonstrate English language skills, as parts of the programme may include English-language academic literature or modules. A numerus clausus (NC) is not required.

On a personal level, you should have an interest in learning and developmental processes across different age groups and be willing to engage with psychological and empirical methods. Analytical and conceptual thinking skills, self-directed learning ability, and autonomous working are important for distance learning. For activities in the educational environment, communication skills, sensitivity to individual support needs, openness to digital teaching methods as well as teamwork and reflective abilities in dealing with educational processes are required.

The focus is on connecting psychological fundamentals with educational practice and professionally designing concrete teaching-learning situations in various educational contexts.

• Psychological basic competencies: You will deepen communication strategies, conversation techniques, and diagnostic procedures in educational psychology.
• Teaching and learning for all age groups: Key topics include education and support in childhood, adolescence and adulthood, media education, as well as workplace learning and digitalisation.
• Research competencies: You will acquire advanced methods of empirical educational research, conduct psychological-educational diagnostics, and learn to develop and evaluate evidence-based interventions.
