Admission Requirements
In order to begin a university degree at AMD Academy of Fashion and Design, applicants must provide proof of the qualification required for the degree (university entrance qualification). This is evidenced by:
- general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles you to study at all universities and in all federal states,
- or the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, which entitles you to study in the corresponding subject area and in the federal states specified on the certificate,
- or the advanced technical college entrance qualification, which entitles you to study at a university of applied sciences or in a tiered degree programme at a university in the federal states specified on the certificate.
Alternatively, you can also be admitted without Abitur or advanced technical college entrance qualification. The following is required to study without Abitur:
- You have passed a master craftsman’s examination.
- Or you have a qualification according to the ordinance on access for professionally qualified persons to universities in the state of Hesse, i.e. either a qualification from professional advanced training of at least 400 hours, the completion of a technical college or a vocational or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognised apprenticeship occupation with subsequent professional activity of at least three years and passing a separate university entrance examination.
- For foreign qualifications, equivalence must be proven for admission.

Course Content and Specialisations
The degree programme focuses on topics such as circular economy, upcycling, ecological materials and social responsibility. Graduates of this course are capable of working as sustainable designers in companies, agencies or as freelancers, making a positive contribution to the sustainable development of society.
The curriculum includes the following modules:
- 1st semester: Introductory project, Sustainable Design and planetary boundaries, elective specialised seminars (communication design, product design, photography, illustration), elective specialised lectures (design theory, design and cultural studies, academic research), discussion rounds, creative portfolio
- 2nd - 7th semester: Elective semester projects (Sustainable Design and value chains, Sustainable Design and digitalisation, Sustainable Design and societal transformation, Product life cycle, Sustainable Design and economics), communication design, product design, photography, illustration, design and cultural studies, business administration, marketing, discussion rounds, forum for reflection and development, creative portfolio
- 8th semester: Bachelor thesis
During your studies, you will also deepen your knowledge in exciting elective modules, for example in product design, communication design or photography.

- Interior Design, B.A.: This AMD degree programme focuses on the conception, design and planning of spaces and spatial objects. Over 7 semesters, you will learn creative-artistic processes and engage intensively with analytical-planning methods.
- Brand and Communication Design, B.A.: This degree programme systematically combines strategic communication with creative design and imparts broad knowledge about brands, communication and current technologies over 7 semesters. The course includes a practical phase lasting 6 weeks. You can study optionally in Düsseldorf or Munich.
