Admission requirements

With your B.A. in Fashion Design, you will work for an internationally operating fashion label, for example, or you will set up your own label or work as a stylist for film and photo productions.

In order to be able to take up a university course at the AMD Academy of Fashion and Design, applicants must provide evidence of the qualification required for the course (university entrance qualification). This is proven by:

• the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur), which entitles the holder to study at all higher education institutions and in all federal states,
• or the subject-linked higher education entrance qualification (Fachgebundene Hochschulreife), which entitles the holder to study in the corresponding subject area and in the federal states shown on the certificate,
• or the University of Applied Sciences Entrance Qualification, which entitles the holder to study at a university of applied sciences or in a tiered course at a university in the federal states shown on the certificate.

Alternatively, you can also be admitted without an Abitur or University of Applied Sciences Entrance Qualification. The following is a prerequisite for studying without an Abitur:

• You have passed a master craftsman's examination.
• or you have a qualification in accordance with the Ordinance on the Access of Vocationally Qualified Persons to Universities in the State of Hesse, i.e. either a qualification from a vocational upgrading course of at least 400 hours, a qualification from a technical college or a vocational or administrative academy, or a passed final examination in a state-recognised training occupation followed by at least three years of professional activity and passing a separate university entrance examination.
• In the case of foreign degrees, the equivalence must be proven for admission.

In addition, you will provide us with evidence of English language skills at level B2 of the Council of Europe Framework of Reference or equivalent.

In addition, submit a creative portfolio with 5-10 work samples and a letter of motivation with your application.

Study content and specialisations

With this English-language bachelor's programme, you will learn creative, craft and technical skills as well as interdisciplinary thinking to create modern fashion collections. The programme includes a practical semester.

The curriculum includes the following modules:

• Semester 1–3: Introduction, Forms + Lines I, II, Materials + Realization I, II, III, Design + Presentation I, II, Production Technices, Concept + Design I, Visualisation + Presentation I, Electives
• Semester 4–6: Concept + Design II, Concept + Technology I, II, Visualisation + Presentation II, Design + Identity, Electives
• Semester 5: Internship
• Semester 6–7: Bachelor-Tutorial, Open Workshop Realization, Bachelor Thesis, Bachelor Thesis Defense, Presentation/Documentation

In the course of your studies, you will also delve into exciting elective modules, for example in Advertising, Innovation, Communication, Retail, Event, Digital Media or Management.
