Admission: Which formal criteria do you need to meet?
The following formal admission requirements apply for enrolment in the Bachelor’s degree course in Technical Business Administration:
- General higher education entrance qualification (Abitur): Direct admission at all universities in Germany.
- Advanced technical college entrance qualification or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification: Direct admission within the federal state or the corresponding subject area specified on the certificate.
- Vocational education pathway: With at least a two-year completed vocational training and two years of relevant professional experience, you can – after passing a university entrance examination – also be admitted to study without the Abitur.
- Professional advancement training: A master craftsman’s certificate or an advanced vocational training with at least 400 lessons (e.g. as a business administrator, business economist, technician) also grants access, if applicable also with a university entrance examination.
- Special case: With a secondary school leaving certificate and at least three years of vocational training (final grade 2.5 or better), a study agreement is possible. For this, you must achieve 18 ECTS in the first semester or 30 ECTS in the first study year.
Regardless of the admission route, the university individually assesses in individual cases whether the requirements for enrolment are met. Admission is not dependent on a Numerus Clausus (NC).
For successful study, a personal interest in economics and technology, basic mathematical skills, and analytical thinking are helpful. You should enjoy solving interdisciplinary tasks and working independently on new subject areas. Self-organisation, time management, and willingness for self-directed learning are important, as the course is conducted entirely online and flexibly. The programme is designed as a flexible distance learning course and can be started without admission restrictions (NC) as well as at an individual starting date. You study 100% online and adapt the learning pace to your personal and professional situation. The course is designed for a standard period of study of 6 semesters (36 months), but can also be completed in up to 72 months. Exams are held in the form of online tests, term papers or presentations; there are no mandatory attendance dates. The course structure includes:
- Self-directed learning via the e-learning platform with digital scripts, videos and studymags
- Individual specialism selection in the 4th and 5th semesters (e.g. Automation or Industry 4.0)
- Flexible examination management with a minimal proportion of on-site exams
- Continuous supervision by lecturers and study coaches
- Possibility to start the programme without a fixed semester start at any 1st day of the month
You work through the modules at your own pace and can use leave semesters or a free extension if needed.

All exams and learning achievements can be completed online. Only occasionally can exams be offered as on-site exams – however, the scope is reduced to a minimum so that you enjoy maximum flexibility and can easily combine study and work.
What costs are incurred and how can you finance your distance learning programme?
The tuition fees depend on the chosen study duration. The standard model provides for 72 months at €259 per month, which corresponds to a total price of €14,220. Shorter terms (e.g. 36 or 48 months) are also available at higher monthly fees. With regularly available discount campaigns you can save up to 10% of the total costs.

The price includes all teaching materials, examination fees, supervision, e-learning platform access as well as access to digital libraries and online offers. Any travel and catering costs for on-site exams must be borne by yourself.
