The Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work is aimed at people who aspire to a versatile career in the social sector or wish to academically underpin their existing professional experience. It is particularly targeted at employed persons in social, educational or care sectors who are interested in a state-recognised qualification as a social worker or social pedagogue. The programme is also suitable for career changers as well as school graduates who aim to work in counselling, support and guidance of various target groups – for example in youth welfare, inclusion, migration, family work or work with older people.
Overview of Formal Admission Requirements
For enrolment in the Bachelor's Social Work programme at Euro-FH, one of the following routes serves as an admission requirement:
- General or subject-specific university entrance qualification (Abitur) or advanced technical college entrance qualification
- Subject-specific advanced vocational qualification according to the Vocational Training Act, the Crafts Code or equivalent regulations – for example master craftsman’s exam, specialist business administrator exam or comparable state-recognised advanced vocational training
- Vocational training plus work experience: At least two years of completed vocational training in a relevant field and at least three years of professional experience in the training occupation
Admission is therefore possible both with a school-based university entrance qualification and through professional qualification and advanced vocational training. There is no numerus clausus (NC) and you can start your studies at any time.
To participate successfully, you should have empathy, strong communication skills and a sense of responsibility. Teamwork, willingness to reflect and a strong interest in social contexts are crucial, as you will come into contact with diverse target groups and challenging life situations during your studies. Initial experience in social, educational or advisory activities is helpful but not mandatory. You should be open to new learning formats and possess basic digital skills for online distance learning.

In addition, you deepen a methodological focus such as intercultural mediation, animal-assisted intervention, supervision & intervision, or didactics & training.
An integral part is a practical phase which you complete flexibly. Upon graduation, you acquire state recognition as a social worker (male/female) or social education worker (male/female).

You decide whether you want to study in 36 or 48 months – an extension free of charge by up to 18 or 24 months respectively is possible. The start of studies is possible at any time. All study materials are available digitally, in print and as audio.

The programme is offered as a distance learning course with selected attendance components. You primarily organise your studies independently of location via the digital learning platform. For some compulsory seminars, you will be on site on a total of 9 presence days in Hamburg. In addition, you participate in four online seminars with a total of 26 hours.

How are the costs for the Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Euro-FH composed and what financing options are available?
The tuition fees are 279 € per month for a study period of 48 months, which corresponds to a total amount of 13,392 €. Shorter study durations or recognition of prior achievements can reduce the overall costs. There are regular discount promotions, such as savings of up to 1,999 € upon promotional registration.
