Admission requirements
Applicants must have a first academic degree (B.A.) or an international equivalent. If you do not yet hold a first degree, please indicate when you will receive it in your application. The degree must be obtained by August 31 at the latest in order to start the programme on September 1. All applicants must be proficient in the English language and must confirm this with an appropriate certificate or by providing evidence of native proficiency.

The Master of International Affairs at Hertie School is designed for students who wish to gain in-depth knowledge of international political challenges. The programme offers three specialisations: International Security, European Governance, and Human Rights and Global Governance.
The course provides essential skills for a career in international organisations, NGOs, academia, or the private sector. In addition to theoretical content, the study programme also includes practical experiences through an integrated internship and a Professional Year. Students also benefit from an extensive career network and international exchange opportunities. Successful completion requires the accumulation of 120 ECTS points.
