Details

The two-year Master's programme 'International Relations & Global Politics' offers students the opportunity to engage with the key challenges of global politics and governance: balancing their own interests with conflict and crisis prevention, international organisations, states, civil society or private actors negotiate, advise and argue daily on how to address these challenges of global governance.

'International Relations & Global Politics' is a full-time academic programme spanning four semesters, providing a comprehensive insight into the dynamic developments of global political interactions. The programme is aimed at students with a background in political or social sciences who aspire to an international career in international organisations, government agencies, NGOs or the private sector. Collaborations with institutions such as the EU Delegation to the United Nations in Geneva offer students insights, information and first-hand experiences.

The course structure combines mandatory and elective modules to impart both core competencies and specialized knowledge. Mandatory modules such as 'International Relations', 'Global Governance', 'War & Peace' and 'European Institutions' cover the theoretical foundations. Elective modules such as 'Democracy & Justice in International Politics' or 'Computational Political Science' offer the opportunity to deepen specific areas of interest from the 2nd to the 4th semester. Optional internships or research projects complement the elective options.

A Master's thesis is required for the completion of the programme, to be written and presented in the fourth semester. This work gives students the opportunity to deeply explore a chosen topic and apply analytical skills acquired during the course of study.
