Admission and studying without a university entrance qualification
To be admitted to the state-recognised design degree programme, you need the general or subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or an equivalent educational qualification and a portfolio with 15–30 works demonstrating your high artistic talent. We are happy to assist you in creating your personal portfolio. In our 2-month portfolio course, experienced lecturers support you in its preparation. Just ask us about it. You can also be admitted to the Design B.A. programme with a secondary school leaving certificate if you can demonstrate a high artistic talent. As a state-recognised designer, create visual worlds
Design is one of the most important drivers of innovation in today’s rapidly changing world. Be part of the ongoing digitalisation and face the challenge of shaping the future with new ideas and formats.
As a communication designer, you don’t just give products, brands and services a face, but create new perspectives, shape brands and design web content.
Photo designers create artistic visual worlds using photography or the art of film. This visual art is used in advertising, product presentation or exhibitions to evoke emotions in the viewer.
Content of the degree programme at the Macromedia Academy
You can complete the design degree with a state-recognised qualification from the hKDM University of Arts, Design and Popular Music Freiburg after just 7 semesters. You will then finish your studies with 210 ECTS credits and the degree of Bachelor of Arts (ECTS).
If you choose the design degree, you can expect a wide-ranging, modular curriculum. In addition to conceptual work, numerous practical projects are a focus of the programme. You will learn key design skills as well as artistic and scientific expertise. During your studies, you will benefit from experienced lecturers. An integral part of the programme is the internship semester, which takes place as the 6th semester.
The Design B.A. degree at hKDM Freiburg is state-recognised and accredited. It is offered at the Macromedia Academy in Munich and Hamburg.
Specialisation in Communication Design
In the Communication Design (B.A.) course, you will learn how design conveys content or information across a wide range of media. From classic print design to spatial design to digital applications, communication designers create books and magazines, corporate identities, websites and apps, infographics and much more. With this course, you not only develop your technical and aesthetic skills, but also learn how to create effective communication through visual representation.
Specialisation in Photography and Moving Image
In addition to technical fundamentals, the Photography and Moving Image (B.A.) specialisation also teaches the artistic and professional use of visual design tools. From the idea to marketing, the entire creative process of an image producer is taught practically and theoretically, from fashion photography to the staging of a viral video hit. The practice-oriented and project-based programme enables you to gain direct insight into different professional profiles in the field of photography and moving image through real cooperative projects.
