Admission requirements
Access to the course of study is granted to those who
- according to § 49 HG have a general university entrance qualification, a university of applied sciences entrance qualification, or an equivalent recognised higher education entrance qualification,
- have a basic health suitability for vocational training, and
- can provide an extended police clearance certificate (a request to apply will be sent to you after the admission interview).
- Furthermore, we as a university expect a 4-week pre-internship in the clinical practice field (delivery room or postpartum ward) or in non-clinical midwifery institutions or with a freelance midwife.
Details
As a midwife, you accompany, advise and care for women during the life phases of family planning, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum period, breastfeeding, up to the child’s first year of life. Here you are a specialist in physiology and promote the health of women and their families. The healthcare provision for women and their families is now subject to high demands and therefore requires a scientifically based and reflective midwifery practice.
In the dual Bachelor’s degree programme in Midwifery, you acquire the necessary professional, personal and methodological competences over 7 semesters. Through evidence-based findings and at the same time learning practical skills of primary midwifery practice, you will be prepared for the complex demands of the profession in order to act as a midwife in a scientifically sound and responsible manner.
With the completion of the dual Bachelor’s degree programme, you obtain a state licence to use the professional title of midwife as well as the internationally recognised degree Bachelor of Science.
