In the Bachelor's degree programme Molecular Biomedicine at Rheinische Hochschule Köln, you engage intensively with the molecular foundations of life and their application in medical research. The programme is divided into three main sections:
- Basic Phase: Acquisition of scientific and biomedical basic knowledge in chemistry, physics, mathematics, biometrics, cell biology, anatomy, histology and biochemistry. Integration of scientific methods and improvement of your English skills for working in an international environment.
- Specialisation Phase: Focus on pathophysiological fundamentals, laboratory practice and research skills. You acquire in-depth knowledge in subjects such as physiology, microbiology, virology, immunology, haematology and pharmacology. Course Structure
The Molecular Biomedicine programme is offered both as a full-time course (6 semesters) and as a part-time course parallel to employment (7 semesters). It takes place on-site at the campuses of Rheinische Hochschule Köln, with hybrid formats also offered. In the full-time model, you regularly attend lectures, seminars and laboratory practicals over three years. In the part-time model, courses are concentrated into evening sessions and individual on-site days (e.g. Saturdays) – ideal for students who are simultaneously employed.
- Each semester covers a clearly defined thematic block – from basic knowledge to research-oriented specialisation.
- Laboratory phases take place both at the university and in cooperating laboratories. Projects and the Bachelor's thesis are often completed in external institutions.
